I`m finished model, now time to paint:) In sword will be souls in prison, I hope they will look cool. Character have 2998 tris, I got 2 extra tris for FX.
All the time I think abut sculpt in ZB..... mayby I try make texture witought ZB.
@Whiteshadow, DeathbyChris, Firebat - Hell yes! Those are badass I love it. Get workin' !
My contribution for the day: In the home stretch, little bit of vert tweakery, some optimization here and there, and on to unwrap and texture. Should be a productive weekend!
Thank you for all the feedback, feels like this one is starting to come together, even tho (as you can see) I have strayed a bit far from the concept, I feel like it's really coming along.
@HuntrLuc: Damn, love your model, especially the hair, it's done really well. @OneLungLewis: Man the green crystals are ace, I envy your hand texturing skills, so good :P
Well, I accidentally procrastinated a little bit so I gotta pick up the slack hehe. Sorry if it's too anime-ish, I'm kinda going for Asian fantasy MMO style.
Painting textures with a mouse is hard, I wished I had a tablet lol
A bit offtopic but I turned 19 today (Why do I keep getting older haha)
murph - Looking damn good so far, thx for uploading vid. Just a quick Q.. is there a reason why you don't mirror the uvs on his face? I mean if you are going to mirror it anyway in ps why not just make one side of the head and then overlap the uvs for the other side? To get the most res out of the 1k tex.
onelunglewis - So what do u plan to use the second half of the period on? :P Looks like you are almost done, looks great. With your workspeed you could proberly push out a couple of more chars before the 6.dec
Update on my progress: Modeling done - next step uv unwrap
No time to write much so just an update on the lowpoly. Great texture work floating around cant wait to start with the painting too. Changed the design quite a bit, added a scout bug who also serves as the belly shield.
@ishii - thanks! Eventually i'll paint in details on both sides of the face, I figured I had enough room to do so and I think it will add a lot to the character, especially on his nose. I'm mirroring in PS just to give myself something to work off. It might have been a bad idea on my part, though :P
@onelungelewis - thanks, I'm using 3d Coat, I like it a lot (edit-- just saw that Eoq already answered you, my bad)
ocarian: I feel as though the waist is too big for your character. The midsection in your concept seemed more petite than what you've got going now. I love your concept and the direction you've taken. Play around with the proportions a bit. Your low-poly is looking great so far.
@HntrLuc - Awesome work, great painterly style. Would like to see a tad bit more spec on the chest plate. Great, Great work.
@shaggystiano - Way to make a skeleton new and fresh.
@murph - Awesome, cant wait to see more of it. Great job of capture the style and feel of your concept. The concept painting was awesome as well.
@nightFlarer - Thank you for the kind words. I feel for you and painting textures with a mouse. Try using the pen tool to create paths good way to make a mouse drawing nice and clean.
@ishii - Great character man! I love the form. Awesome idea of the spring loaded peg leg... Great. Can't wait to see some texture.
@audi100 - Can't wait to see this bad boy with some color.
@ocarian - Solid base model my friend, great form, and silhouette.
@Levus - Awesome sculpt so far. Really like the character in the hat and face.
@madmuffin - Keep it up, It has been good to see your progress through this process, great work.
Im coming in the home stretch, this one has been tough scheduling while crunching at work and entertaining my daughter. Gonna have to buckle down to make sure I get done when the real battle begins. I have some effects to do and then the tweaking will begin.
I have 310 Tris to use for my effects. Im currently at 2690 Tris
Wow, I've been out of it for a couple days, but Jesus man. The WIPS are looking awesome. Fletcher, those eyes are flawless. Also be stoked your V'hulcrem wallpaper is my motivation for this pre-season start. Keep it up.
Oh man, tough acts to post after. The texture work is really great on that metal fletcher, and I'm loving the sharp detail choi!
I was out of the country for the first week of the contest. So spend today trying to get caught up. Here is my quickie concept. I had the idea of the man in the iron mask stuck in my head. Decided to run with it.
Followed by my first pass at the model.
I've got lots of tweaking and cleanup to do, hopefully that will buy me enough tri's that I can add the grenades and some other details.

Small update from me. Still blocking things in, some areas are more refined, but its mostly pretty rough.
Today's been good for low-poly modeling.
Under 2k with pretty much everything well represented and rig-able. Will define a bit more before moving on.
Texture soon to come.
Amazing works!

@murph: Much thanks for sharing your work flow. I'll be sure to check it out when I start texturing.
there are so many talented people in this thread!! good job all

Very very very early start on the texture:
The metal will look way more damaged, also want to add little painted planes for steam bursts and smoke from the exhausts when its done.
Also need to experiment more with colours.
@DKK - thanks, I want to record more when i can sit down for a good couple of hours and paint. maybe tonight!
edit: LOVING your texture so far, JFletcher
So many good ones this thread!
I gotta take care of my girl (shes sick).
Here's the progress thus far:

MODEL'S DONE:
Sittin' pretty at 2972. On to UV's!
Edit: I've fixed that weird butt pinch, btw.
