\Pretty much done modeling at this point, clocking in at 2,878 tris total for the character and props to go with. Going to be working on some color studies and some polyflow tweaks while I unwrap and test rig parts.
Thank you illusion, much love, this is much more than I wanted, thank you.
Do you remember the website which had refs like the one you gave me, but you could spin the 3d model, and you could also do like 10 seconds to 2 minute quick sketches with their own timer?
Thank you again for the anatomy help, really lovely.
Finished up my model, time to start the fun painting part! i'll probably tweak that weapon a little more.... everyone's stuff is looking great, just trying to keep up here
@HuntrLuc - I really like what you've got so far, the colours all seem to jive really nicely together and the head is really well done!
@Weisheng - I think your cloth paints are all pretty nice except maybe the one on his cloak that could use some work, but it's coming along really nicely. I like the logo you put on his back it keeps things interesting. Keep it up!
@Sauron - I'm digging that weapon design, she's coming along really well, can't wait to see what you do for the head!
@ Xeno Kratios - The bottom half of your girl is incredibly rigid, you might want to try putting a bend on it or something like that. I think that could really help you a lot
@ Illusion - That's a great sculpt I wish I could do something as good as that! Just need practice I suppose xD
@Sirdelita - I'm really digging on this model too, always kinda liked that mage in the hood thing.
@Murph - Nice model man, can't wait to see what you do with the textures and stuff keep it up!
There's alot of cool peices here, I feltmy other drawing on page 5 was too plain so I made him look a little more like a mage.. His shirt is half kimono half dress shirt other than obvious proportion errors i hope i can get some good critique.. oh ya intstead of a drone i was thinking of giving him a hawk. Thought i do need something to make him more techno. I was thinking about making the book electronic.
Kitsune, I'm sure you could save tri's on areas like the guns hammer and the breasts to give some more shape to the arms and legs. L left arm looks way to straight and will not deform well as it is, which mean's you may have a hard time posing her.
Also the holes in the hat don't have to be actual holes, the horns could just intersect and you can paint the hole. It's not going to show up very strong in the silhouette anyway.
Love your character design though, I can't wait to see it textured.
AustinH, love the concept, I agree he need s a little more techno... maybe the goggles, the boots and the book?
Hey Fearian, thanx for the constructive comment.
I don't know why I was so stubborn to do holes on the hat. I'm agree with you for the left arm, I was trying to make a pose and ... as you said, theirs a problem on the ledt arm.
Thanks for the advice I return immediatly to my desk !
Okay, so as you can see I changed his goggles around, i changed his boots and the book is really hard to notice but it's different. I added some color to get a little bit of feeling took me like 3 min so don't judge my coloring skills =P. I tried to make him look more techno, mechanics is a weak point of mine XD. I might add some more armour but I don't want him too clunky, he's a squishy. The boots and the stylized big feet make him feel not agile enough as it is. I always get the impression as TIGHT cloths being more futuristic(minimalistic) so he still doesn't feel quite there to me.
Ithoual - That model is coming out really, really nice. My only crit could be that your skin is starting to look very specular, more so than the metal around it and that might clash and make for a confusing material, however it's so early in the process I wouldn't really say anything except your texture is coming out very nice!
Wishang and Hntr - Awesome starts to your textures! Looking really nice!
Hey everyone, I've started blocking out my model for the General. Let me know what you guys think, things I can improve on.
I still have 500 polys to work with so I'm going to add a shoulder guard with the polycount logo on it , some gauntlets and detail wherever its needed.
Thanks everyone! Seeing so much excellent work here. It's really intimidating.
Hunterluc: Your texture work is insane dude ! Great character!
Weisheng: Your character is really nice, i enjoy your style, and the distribution of color/details is really cool...
Murph: Nice model, i wait for your texture, i feel that it's gonna be really cool :].
I worked a bit more the skin specular as Vorge told me (Thx for the advice btw) and i advanced the texture, now i need to design the magic gauntlet for the right hand. (Feedback plz!!!)
@Clint: I like that body shape a lot. And the patterns go well with it imo.
@JFletcher: I think that rickety old steambot look is gonna be great once fully textured, looking forward to it.
@kitsune: Don't listen to anyone, boobs are a top priority for adding geometry. Just kidding, but it's looking promising. The world always needs more pirate girls.
@Ithoual: Yours is looking better each time I see it, you're a master with that metal texture.
Anyways, I went and tried to swap the heads and lower body around on my rough sketches, but in the end I went with the unmodified nr 1 anyway. Below that are two versions of the preliminary final concept (I'm leaning towards the left one). It seems like I should do something to improve the visual interest but I can't put my finger on it. Also I'm not sure about the axe.
I would really be thankful for any harsh crits, don't be afraid to nitpick.
I'm a little late in the game, but I'll do my best to get this thing done in time. Let me know what you think of the rough concept. I'm going for the shadow.
@ onelunglewis:
Man that is looking really sweet, super props. Keep up the good work. I liked your site as well, pretty sweet sculpts. Quick question. Is the gnomon course for zbrush that you took online, or is it a real world class that you attended?
Yes it was online, and highly recommend it. At the time it was instructed by Scott Spencer, Scott is no longer the instructor but I gnomon always has quality classes.

Here's a quick update on mine before bed. Bit of a start on textures, still fiddling with colors.

@HntrLuc - looking cool!
Any suggestions? I haven't got any, and I need to most improvement.

Oh, I would also find this website ))))
Sauron sorry, I read later that you want to make a deviation from the normal anatomy.
I'm sure with your skills you will make great art
Finished high poly

Now comes the hard part for me, the texturing
@weisheng: Fantastic , reminds me of Naruto in TeamFortress Style, gimme more NOW!
@illusion: That´s totally sexy, can´t wait to see it finished
@murph: nice translation from concept and you really should put some more love into his staff and make his bracers a little bit smaller
@sirdelita: Great start, hurry up, i want to see more
@kengkart: This actually freaked me out(i want to say it´s awesome )
@sp0kelset Cool concept, look forward to seeing more!
@HntrLuc Very cool, i like how the hair looks!
@weisheng Coming along great, i love the hard edges!
@Illusion, awesome!

So erm, got most of the model done, got quite a bit of welding and poly crunching to do but should start texturing maybe tomorrow.
edit: i'll be welding those cylinders on the front to the main body and add more loops to the fingers so they bend better.
Weisheng: Your character is really nice, i enjoy your style, and the distribution of color/details is really cool...
Murph: Nice model, i wait for your texture, i feel that it's gonna be really cool :].

Modeling pretty much finished, ready to unwrap!

I'm going to finish unwrapping and texture some this weekend

Onelung

JFletcher I love your mecha :]
Unwrapped, AO, now time for some textures!
Actually for a mouse texture, it's quite insane hehe!
