I wish he would hold the mallet more like Engineer holds his wrench though, at least his idling animation.
The way Engineer pounds the mallet into his left palm, I believe that would make sense witht he mallet too. The swinging animation would probably also look better if he wasn't holding the handle with his left hand... it looks a bit like he's jerking off the handle with his left hand when he swings...
Dude, I know you don't choose the stats but I've got an awesome idea to make the Big mean mother hubbard more interesting. You said it's gonna give ammo to players, right? So here's the thing. You maybe could 'overarm' your team-mates? Like Medic's overheal. For instance you give ammo to a Heavy who has currently 100 ammo left in his minigun. Every shot gives 50 ammo and after 2 shots he has full ammo, but if you shoot 2 times more he gets 'overarmed' and has 300 ammo! But the limit is at 150% max ammo.
Make it cost the Engineer metal to give ammo away and maybe it would be a balanced unlock.
been a crazy weekend. got family coming in for the week, so getting much done is going to be hard. I'm going to model the load part underneath so in case valve doesn't want to stray too much from the shotgun this will still load like the original. Aside from that everything in game works fine with this. Just wanted to do this as a backup. Both the hammer and pistol should be fine as well in terms of re-using animations. I might make a version of the pistol that has the chambers be able to pop out to the left and see if they can use the animations from the sam/max guns.
I got an account here just to say that not only are these ideas awesome, but the Big Mean Mother Hubbard would be really cool with a custom reloading animation. As far as I know it is legal and many other people are making animations for theirs as well.
well, i'd love to have tons of custom animation, but I know sparkwire has a pretty full load with helping others out. I just want to make sure my stuff can be used "as-is" without any heavy modification to work in game. If my stuff got accepted and valve would like do their own animations and rig the pressure gauge to represent actual pressure.. i'd mail them some cookies for thanks!!
so now I'm just trying to add more stuff to the pack in case one item isn't up to par, then theres another that can take its place. I haven't seen anyone do any pda swaps for the engy yet, so I thought I'd take a shot at it. I'm just playing with the shapes right now. Using an old hand radio as ref. used the original as placement for the buttons and swaped out the flick switch on top with a different style. So far its longer than the original, but I'm trying to find ways to beef it up and look "bigger" to fit my theme. I'll have to take a look at some engy stuff and see what designs i can incorporate into this.
ok, won't be able to touch this for a few days. heres a few ideas I cranked out. Since the engy never actually pushes the buttons on the pda I thought I could replace the buttons with other knoby stuff. Once I can get back to work on this I'll crank out some more versions.
The "Goes up to eleven" joke is only funny if the dial is marked out to ten, and the eleven is drawn/scratched on after the fact (and the dial set to the non-existent setting anyhow)

to block the ads, do this
1. Go to start > RUN
2. Type notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
3. Add the lines:
127.0.0.1 adserver.adtechus.com
127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com
I assume the animation will be slower, like your other ones. When I first loaded it, it went super slow and it looked like the left hand went through the barrel.
Now that it's loaded, it goes to fast for me to see if I saw correctly.

What I meant to say is it looks like he's just throwing in a bullet. Not sure if you'd be able to tell it's actually a speed loader ingame if you'd never read this thread.
