heres an update with the mallet. I call it "The Big Bang"
I made two versions, i'm liking the more modern #1 more, but i'd like to see what everyone else thinks. Both of these are just rough concepts, so whichever ends up being best will get the same treatment the shotgun got.
Great work so far oobersli. I actually think mallet number 2 is more interesting and has more character. And the new update for the blunderbus is looking good as well. I still think the bolt box could stand to be larger, having the massive box on there in the concept really made it interesting but probably highly impractical :poly124:
blah, updated my original post with the update, forgot to make a new reply with it. I went ahead with the more modern one and gave it a bit of funk. I just think the second one is too medieval and cartoony. increased the mallet head by 30% from the previous post.
i sorta like the matching colours...makes it look like part of an intentional set ( irony here )
also i'm real curious to see what the pistol comes out like

Lies!
Also, the wooden handle hammer feels more like tf2 than the modern one. Remember, it's at least 50'2 era tech, styling, etc. I could buy something 85% similar to that 'modern' hammer from a hardware store today. Give it some retro-love.
for something that wacks on machinery I wanted that extra reinforcement. Wood just doesn't look strong enough. I'm pretty sure they had metal rubber mallets back in the day and it is tf2 so the tech can be swayed a tad here and there.
Also... i doubt a rubber mallet would hurt machinery anymore than wacking them with a metal wrench.
may get some shots of the new revolver tonite, so far all i have is the cylinder part. its going to be a 9 shot revolver.
Got an idea for your Co2 canister. If you place it in front of the metal holder to the right it will give it won't be as bulky on the side. Then you could run 1 large cable around to meet the canister. I can post the idea tonight or I'll show you tomorrow at work. By the way, this is pretty kickass so and I definitely want to use it in the game.
damn, like 12 hours from my last post and I'm already on page 3. got lots of competition I guess.
Anyways, I tried to get some ideas for the last weapon last night and my fiancee suggested I go big. I'm pulling shapes from the spy revolver and pyro flare gun. this is in no way final or the working mesh. I'm just experimenting right now. I think when I finish the grip it'll read as being huge instead of just an oversized gun. I've never been a fan of modeling handguns so this is the most challenging for me. I'm also curious that since this doesn't load with a magazine if it would have any conflicts with replacing the current engy pistol?
The Tex might be a tad too oversized at the moment. These are my favourite entries so far, they really look like they are within the art style of the game, almost like Valve themselves created them. Keep up the awesome work!
i'm confused with how this is bad news?? i've based my weapons off of the originals so they fit within them scale wise and they techically do the same thing as the replacement? care to enlighten me how?

Since you mentioned adding engie tech to it, how about making it so it's a revolver that the engie has modified to fire from a clip. This would keep the same animation, add that unique cobbled together look and allow you to keep the design you've got at the moment (which is coming together nicely I might add).
i could do some engy modification to the revolver to allow it to use a magazine. i'll have to do more modification but heres a few shapes slapped together to get an idea.
I reckon it'd look good with one of those handles like the one on the Raging Bull 500, which will technically be closer to the original shape of the Engi's pistol grip.
ok, added a bolted on magazine. added the hammer and put on a can of pepper spray feeding into the barrel. Going to play around with its placement. My whole idea behind it is if its called Big Tex.. it bites like a texas rattlesnake *pepperspray bullets*
Your revolver is looking awesome, but the solid black areas just don't seem like they belong. I think if you made the weapon look a tad bit beat up, old, or rusty then it'd look like a fresh tack on repair job. Also, did you get to test whether the clip will work with the reloading animation or not? That's kinda important there.

hah, I like it. thanks

the 1. is a bit to simple
and the 2. one has a good style, but its a bit to comic. he is going a lil bit to much like kirby or something.^^
It also can be a problem by the texture, so it doesn't matter.^^
Could u add a bit color?
added some pressure tanks and pipes to ms hubbard.
The engineer doesn't hold his shotgun up to his shoulder!

Looking forward to the revolver.
Now I'm kinda wondering if the other classes can use this shotgun too...

Going to add some engy tech once I get the base gun set in.

revolver for the engineer -> new animations.
I had actually worked on a pistol with a magazine as well, so I can just hop over to that. I still want to finish this though.
did you remove the hammer intentionally? (i liked it...)
