Listen ya noodge, if ya don't cut the narrishkeit and quit kibitzing I'm gonna potch you right in your jaw. You might think you're some kind of macher but you're just a nudnik and your mazel is utter shmutz, and about to run out if you huck with me..
I'd say "capiche?" there to sound like a tough-guy but I don't think there's any language in yiddish for sounding tough.
A friend of mine just told me that in this stage, the models are perfect. No need to try to make them "more perfect". He's a very avid TF2 player and a modeler too so I'll trust him. I like them too, the PDA as it is right now is simple, not that angular and quite interesting. I think it's just time to really focus on the presentation of the models, make a very cool TF2 photoshop layout, couple of in-game videos and I think I'm done.
I'm not gonna lie, I think your knife replacement needs more work. It looks unfinished. Even though the gun on top is based on a real combination gun, it doesn't look like it would be functional. I can't tell you how much better it would look if you made it into a wheel-lock pistol, or something else with more visible parts. right now it looks like you stuck a box on top of a weird kukri.
That's the other thing - i'd rather have the knife shaped like a pocket knife, with the little fingernail recess to open it. Very few pocket knives are curved like that.
I like your gun and I feel like the disguise kit is coming along nicely, but the knifegun just doesn't look right to me.

Well, you're late 5 days when I designed it. Constantly re-modeling isn't a very fun thing to do you know. I'm only open to texture suggestions.
Are you putting the words on the cigar kit? Next to the red buttons of doom?
nah, it just kinda doesn't feel right. Tried dozens of fonts and every one of them looked bad and out of place, I'm thinking about a sticker or a warning sign, a logo.
I still think there are too many brushstrokes. Your example of the direct hit kinda proves my point in that you have a lot more and it's compacted into smaller surface area.
for the direct hit, the brushstrokes aren't as dynamic and they are longer and larger.
It looks good, but it gives of the impression that it's checkered with squares.
your weapons are beautiful regardless. just giving my two cents.
edit: to be more specific, the Direct Hit looks as if someone painted it in real life. Yours doesn't.
remember, TF2's style is minimalistic and simple with base colors and broad brush strucks. Your textures have too much noise.
I agree that the painting is a bit off. Your textures have too many slight color variations overall and they're all right next to eachother in perfectly square shapes overlapping and contrasting. I think if you used a few less color variations and have some larger more unique shapes that aren't perfect rectangles/squares it would look a lot better.

The brushes give a lot of detail to the model, it may look like too many on the picture, but on the gun, it looks perfect! :poly142:
I know it's going to be a pain in the ass, but I'd suggest repainting your textures. Use high opacity with your brush strokes and don't be afraid of blocks of solid color.
Try out something like this and see where it goes:

Hmmm...must admit, it looks better. Thank you again, Swizzle!
Lots of practice: Yes
Gabe Newell in disguise: No
Years of professional experience: No
But whatever. Here's a download to a timelapse video of a paintover I just did on that texture. You'll probably want to frame-by-frame through it since it's kind of fast.
Don't let that put you off though - I'm using Paint.NET and one of the ways I'm doing textures is with thick lines - it gives you control points that you can move around and make it a bit more brush-like (don't know if there's something similar with PS)... of course it still needs a bit of adjustment but its better than nothing
Hmmm, I have some money left right now, and I think a graphics tablet is the best way to spend them. If anyone knows, is Bamboo Touch or Bamboo One by Wacom any good?
If you're patient, you can achieve similar effects with the Polygonal Lasso Tool with a 1px feather. Far easier than painting with a mouse, although it'll take a fair bit of time to reach the same quality.

It's gettin' all Yiddish up in here.

With an attitude like that, your chances of winning seem to be a bit slim.

Lots of practice probably.
And he's also Gabe Newell in disguise.
Hey Swizzle, get back to work on HL2 ep. 3.
Seriously dude. It's about time. :-)
