The problem is that IF I do the blade in gold I need to add some detail, but overly detailed textures aren't welcome in TF2, you need to have a perfect balance between style and detail
I tried the clamp and it doesn't look good at all, that's why I did that little detail on the gun in the end, the clamp just looked out of place, this knife looks professional, and I don't want to make it look home made or something! Remodeling and unwrapping again because of the ridges and a small button is just kinda pointless!
Also, welcome back!
That knife is quite possibly -the- most subtly epic release for TF2 yet. If it's not chosen for inclusion (blasphemy) then I hope you'll offer it as a replacement for standard knife.

Thanks! A little Update: Configuring my new tablet, new textures coming soon!
Ok, this thing went completely crazy on me. The lines aren't smooth and the accuracy is horrendous! Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I know that it's not the forum to ask technical help on a tablet, but since there are so much users using them...
Just one gripe (as always lol) the indent on the blade is a liiiittle crooked. I don't know how easy that will be to rotate, but if it's gonna take an hour, I wouldn't worry about it.
Just fix the coloring on the gold part of the knife, and then I'd say you're completely done.
By that I mean the greenish patches on the barrel, but there so unnoticeable. You could just call it a day and work on the Cigar kit.
More- Perhaps you can make the flowers bigger, and a tad more cartoony, the way TF2 would like them to be. Bigger flowers are also more noticeable in the overworld.

And mine:
I know it's far fetched and I don't want to come stupid or ignorant, but still some design is very similar!
OR
Since Comcast finally hooked up my new internet, have one of my trademarked terrible photoshop critiques.
Also, welcome back!
Anyway, it's looking good. Hope you feel better!
Wait, are you talking about geometry or the texture? I'm assuming you want light to catch the edges of the model right?
Also, you should keep the flower in some form.
Do a big leafy, flowerly vine for the gun and a thin wispy vine like the existing one for the knife.
I like this much much more!

Anyway, DO ROGUE TROOPERS IDEA!
But, maybe for the gun in the blank spot?
What? You can fire it with the uhh... But the bullets go... WAIT A MINUTE!
think the gun should have the flowers on it
The IRL knifegun Fragus used for reference has a trigger pop out when the knife is unfolded.
