ruz: gotta be honest thats one of the finest drunken walk cycles ive seen, and back in school we used to like the walls of the lab with empties...probably why nobody from there is pro yet haha
cheers for the encouragements guys. yeah I am still finding the arm swing the hardest to get right. Its a real bitch. looks ok on the silly guy, but its harder on normal looking cycles.
Gonna start looking at more reference I think.
Nice gun harry, though perhaps the presentation could be improved a little. It kind of reads as white on white right now
hey Harry, thats a pretty nice bake. Im not really familiar with that pistol so I cant really give accuracy feedback, but it looks convincing enough to me.
as for this thing, I am done with it. I want to move onto something else already and quick. Going to look for mod work so if any1 is looking for an artist and thinks I would be a good fit then give me a shout. For the AK I just shortened the barrel a bit and put the fire selector down. I also know some people don't really dig dark models on black backgrounds but personally I really like it, especially with this piece. Thats just my preference
i knew some jerk would spot it. And i kind of suspected it'd be you if anyone
yeah.... i forgot to separate the islands, i'm a retard. dunno how much i can be bothered to go back and fix it now. I might see if i can detach and just scale it down rather than move it, maybe then i wont need to rebake AO
Looks really nice harry. Clean bakes - but i have to say, that little seam will disappear when you'll have a diffuse. Some cheating is ok! :P I have a beretta lying about to myself, maybe try to finishing that one up :P
EricV: looking great. I disagree entirely about Kewop's comment about "random color", one of my biggest complaints about gun modelers is that they fail to capture the wide range of hues you find in a good metal finish on guns. Lots of deep, rich tones--purples, blues and on. Really an impressive piece and I agree with your personal preferences in presenting it, but couldn't we see it in other lighting environments too?
Unleashed: I really like what I see so far, keep it up. Face has a lot of character. Skinnier anatomy on women is tricky. In life drawing I found that all women have curves, it's just that on the skinny chicks the curves are way, way harder to capture. You look on track to do a good female model with low body fat.
bejkon: link doesn't work for me, 403
As for me just a little more work tonight, built the carbine adapter for the Dardick. Just further cements it as a unique weapon. This was harder since I could find all of two reference images for it that were not all that detailed.

i went back and fixed it up anyway. Damn earthquake shaming me into it
edit: whoa gauss, could i see this fabled ref pic? the structure of that thing just looks bizarre
working on a Dragonborn for the folio mostly wanted to mess with the anatomy of the character, because as they are commonly depicted now they dont look like they are descended from something that could fly...nerdwank... anyways in the interest of not giving tmi here ill start a thread in a bit for wips.
the sculpt is super rough now and im going to retop it before i refine anything so please keep this in mind:)
unleashed: looking pretty good, but take another look at the hands please the thumb placement looks painful.
EricV - That looks pretty sick man, nice clean work.
It's a couple pages back now already (wow!), but...
rollin: Thanks for the crit man! You're definitely right, I need to do something better with that foreground pipe and supports. Some parts of the mech could use more definition too, I think, and more linking between the colors of the env and the mech.
i knew some jerk would spot it. And i kind of suspected it'd be you if anyone

=D
Yeah these things are killer to me, some may say you wont spot them, but they break the HP feel and cause aliasing(as you can see in the shot) that no amount of diffuse work will fix. Anyway, looks great otherwise man. Next time force on AA in your video drivers, i probably wont catch it then!
New developments on Spectrum with Pior's character. She changes colour based on what light you're standing on (even though she isn't on any light atm). It's much more consistent now than it was. All dynamic, in game.

Great work man, the gun looks awesome!
Would you mind posting you textures? I'm in the midst of a gun, just about to start textuing, and would love to get some ideas from your work.
Hey all, I'm linking a video on what I'm working on. It's a mech gunner used for following the infantry for fire power. Like a tank with bullet proof glass. I am a college student and I'm still learning. Please feel free to comment if you have any helpfull suggestions.
Racer445> Looks sweet! You gotta love those welds. Not that welds themselves are that amazing, but you hardly ever see it in 3D game art. Is that some form of matcap material or your own dynamic lighting?
Nelis, thanks man, you've got some really fantastic concepts. Easy to follow and pretty.
PogoP, I made a bunch of little circles and put em in a line, then used PathDeform WSM to make it follow a spline where I wanted the weld to go. A noise mod was also added to add a little unevenness.

currently redoing the hair, why does hair have to be so hard
Edit: Link fail. Thanks for the headsup Gauss. I'm a drop-box noob, thought I just could link it :poly136:

like kodde said the weldmarks are a really nice touch, loving it
me cant get beyond grey boxing these days
I don't know how Racer did it, but Bitmaps awesome tutorial (direct link to vid) gets very nice results, super quick and easy too.
