OK - tweaked the head size a bit and reigned in the fisheye of the camera which was accentuating the bulbous head and giving it a wierd look. Loking better now?
(The pic is still coming across blurrier than if you view it directly by pasting the link in my browser - anyone know why that is?)
@Rollin - that's looking like a great start - instantly recognisable as your style but different enough not to look carbon copied from the others.
@NEox - that character is coming aslong amazingly - the sense of character is really nice. I'm sure the headaches of rendering will pay off in the end Don't open the can of worms which is getting a displacement from ZBrush to render in Max though!
fatcap: looks great man, he looks stout but not out of proportion at all, texture work is unbelievable here great work.
Just a lil summin' Im working on goes with the character that will use the sword I posted a while back. Still very wip, pommel is not done, and I have alot of work to do at the base of the blade. comments always welcome, o the cylindrical parts will be symmetrical when its done.
teaandcigarettes: Yeah, I'm going to do a mudbox pass on most of this. I'll probably start on the larger pieces and keep going with the smaller stuff until just before my PC dies.
The column is already made in mudbox, just a cylinder with a displacemennt map.
After seeing Neox's work on the red haired chick, I decided to go back and finish up my spy chick because he was doing a lot of things I wanted to accomplish with the style. This is all very WIP, so imagine she's wearing a catsuit or something.
but i like her better this way:poly124:
trying out some accessories and a base, some facial refinement as well,
Fat_Cap: That's some wild texture work there, only thing bothering me is the bandaid on his right arm. In comparison to the rest of the character which is a bit dirtier it looks out of place. Maybe if you made the edges of it a little more flat and desaturated and added some dirt alongside the edges it would blend in better with the character.
Still awesome model, flats plz
FAT_CAP - looks great. Perhaps the only thing bugging me is the length of the lower leg.It might just be the way its reading, but it makes him look rather short.
Fat: I finally figured out what was bugging me, his forearms seem really short while his upper arms seem too long, maybe it's me / render angles but it really kinda screams at me.
Fletch: Looking uber, cept the massive spike at the heel of the shoe (maybe another loop?)
Full day for the mag+rounds. Got hung up on a few details but overall I executed on the wobbly particulars of bakelite/polymer mags to my satisfaction.
the brow is way to huge and bulging, the budge of skin that looks like this /|\ by the nose stands out too much, focus on the main shapes and forms before going into detail with the veins and wrinkles.
just bought me max 2011 and thought i should finally get my head into mental ray... i have to say its not my world - beeing used to realtime rendering (woah its sooo slooooow) or the max scanline as the best rendering solution for me so far...
now gonna add some clothing and stop messing around with stuff i don't understand... why is the photographic exposure control so... hum... fucked up?
FAT_CAP: this is really high quality.. I'm wondering where do you get the texture sources
and a light critic: the folds at his butt are to '/' imo they should look more like '--'
and I really love the skin tone of his hands!
hi gaus! I'm here all the day.. you're the one who was missing
ok here's the current state.. still not settled with the head..
and again.. this is the fallout3 rig.. so I don't have any influence on it
rollin: too true, but the point is that your stuff looks great. case in point right there, i cant recall ever seeing the nose bridge line extended up past the brows like that, and the overall character sculpt should fit right in (as well as surpass) a lot of the fo3 assets. nice work
also neox if I haven't voiced appreciation for your sculpt I mean to now. Despite his curmudgeonly ways, once you're all finished with her you should pass a nice render to John Kricfalusi (http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/). the dude is all old school, not a fan of 3d at all, but mostly because of the way they stylize characters, less so the form. I think he'd reaaaaally dig your little chickadee. Just make sure not to send her in a t-pose--or, send it over and ask for some crits from someone who knows!
FATCAP: The texturing on that guy is really impressive. Nice!
Just a couple more studies. I'll have some more interesting work to show soon, but here's the meat and potatoes stuff for now. I'm trying to achieve a more textured look in my digital stuff and also working on a less 'robotic' approach to colour:
If you are going that crazy with the reference why not include the indented seam at the top of the mag too?
which, the one running horizontally or the one running vertically on the upper left top of the magazine? the horizontal seam is modeled it's just a little harder to see in most angles. I don't have as strong of command of sub-d to have it show up just so, and I figured the vertical seam would be an ideal candidate for doing in PS. Yeah I'm going mostly crazy with the detail but I don't actually want to go crazy

Been cutting down on this for a lil bit now. originally set my budget to be 3k (Current gen FPS). Kind of happy, could probably add edges to some areas to smooth them out a little.
Attempting a sculpt of Doom guy, but having trouble making the buzzcut look like hair. I can't seem to find a happy medium between "chia pet" and "marshmellow"

this is medusa based on Alex Oliver's concept
One of my favorite metal albums as well.
Ok so i got the UV's and bakes done, started on the low poly of this guy
Very very early, still got a loooooooooooot to do and i havent even started a specular map
Could probably use a couple more polygons in some places too.
edit:
hah, this looks way off the high poly i last showed.
EDIT 2:
Updated, character looks less...asian (?) now, just thought this was worth showing more. (also started on shirt)

Fat_Cap: make a video of a rotation man, that's a really sweet lookin model.
It's hand painted. Photoshop.

Naughty Scudz! Down, boy!
Also, nice work on that sculpt.
Tommy Tallarico?
Nice bake. The textures are coming along nicely too.

shit, just realized I didn't get around to those indents on the front of the mag. Oh well, one for tomorrow morning.
LED eyes (pain in the ass) as you can see. still a wip.
so thats what i came up whit...
awesome render neox! love it!!

Swizzle: i will look into that, but ms Portman (which I used for ref) has guite short limbs overall...

Parts of the normal are ugly because I accidentally baked it with a stepped-down version of the hipoly. wups

nick, they are great!
okeey.. I give up .. I take head #2
and I should start a thread...

The jaw is way too wide though, both for doomguy and the punisher.
