I agree Sandro, the lighting is a bit flat. I'm relatively inexperienced with lighting, so I'm struggling some to get the model to hold up under more moody conditions. I'll keep trying though.
In any case, I updated the original image from my post. Mostly just tweaked the SSS values a little so the skin appears more plush and less plastic.
edit: Last render with the model for tonight. An attempt at more dramatic lighting. I'll just link it here so I don't spam up the thread: http://adamvfx.com/PortraitOld2.jpg
Man, I prefer the first lighting pass you have there Mr. Lewis. In no way does it feel flat to me. Actually, it feels pretty close to editorial photography lighting than anything. Awesome sculpt, fella.
brandoom: still feels too big to me to think of it as a bomb. i did a silhouette scale comparison in relation to the keypad here. feels more like some sort of engine or something you'd find on a sub or something. i dunno... may just be me though.... i always just picture bombs much smaller... or maybe this thing is like advanced weaponry? or maybe it just feels too safe to touch atm... bah i'm just rambling now. it's still good solid modeling work though man
cool work guys, really love those drawings Larolaro & great head sculpt again Adam!
Is that tali from me 2 slaught? silhouette looks tops
cool squirrel Rens
prepping a few leaves and thorns to tangle up in the forest guys beard and armour
Okay so deceided to make a proper project out of this. After good c&c I'm now back at the sculpt, bringing variation in creases and such, adding details.Sshouldn't alter too much of what I have already done on the texture.
Sadly as it is my 1st try out in Zb this mesh is collapsed, no way back to go to any lower subs. So bit of an unusual way of working. All good fun tho'
Pestisauce:
Try reconstructing subdivisions! If it's still all quads and un-subdividable, that'll work.
Ironbear: what matcap is that?
harry: that's actually quite a nice way of previewing, you're right. Nice materials.
I love how larolaro changed his name ages ago, but nobody seems to notice or care. It's the price you pay for being memorable!

Just finished another one. Hardly spent any time on the Tin Woodman, but I've only got 9 days left for the Scarecrow, Lion, and a pedestal (plus I have to write an essay for school). It's the price you pay for being ambitious!
think I'm about done with this, just throwing it up here since I haven't posted much in the last year in P&P. Just watching a crap load of tutorials learning new techniques from all these other great artists out there..

Making my own answer to one of life's greatest Mysteries... What does tali look like under that mask???
Hood and lower mask dealies are just placeholders for now. I'm thinking she looks too human right now, that would be a bit of a cop-out, but it's a start.
zwebbie I'm loving that style and that small pointy foot dog! Just awesome! I Do hope you do a flying monkey!
Gir: that hair is insane! =O might be cool to add a bit of length variation to the hair ont he side as you only have 2 sizes, very small and super long
First post in the waywo thread. Lets start with a rainbow vomiting flying snake!

Like the metal, maybe strengthen the specular a little bit for it?.
Working on some kleskian armor now and trying to push out some more details:
I'd add a stone or clay detail overlay and add some simple geometric paintings

@kite: Love the twig and leaves. Great attention and effort for detail. The nurse is a masterpiece.
@Zwebbie: Awesome!
