thanks mikezoo! yeah you are right its supposed to be attached to the wall, in fact the main idea is to do a "pillar" (as its part of a scene sci fi) and then I thought about the gorilla pose to make the shape bolder, but maybe didnt got it right while keeping it a pillar still. Here is a quick paintover, still a wip like I said, lots of stuff still floating. Also yeah thanks gotta check the form before the detail! its true!
I'm pretty sure the welding is floating geo. Look at the wireframe. Also, you can't decimate something and have it look clean like that afterwards.
Hahaha. Now I feel like a huge retard; I have completely missed the second screenshot when I wrote that post; my points are now completely invalid.
Yet , I could argue that it is possible to decimate complex hardsurface meshes and have them retain their details and smoothness. You could mask out certain regions to keep the localized details and assign 1 smoothing group to the whole mesh to take care of its roughness. I've been jugling some hardsurface stuff back and forth between Max and Zbrush and didn't have too many issues. It wasn't THAT clean though :poly136:
ive been mia for a while, and after days of just browsing through this thread,i got inspired to finish the low poly of my a folio piece i started a while back. There are so many amazing artists around here!
Here it goes. More can be seen in my game art thread. For the low poly, i wasnt really too into making it low poly. I wanted to try doing something that could be in a vr demo. Saw a few demos for car contractor companies a while back and i was amazed what people are doing these days with things like the unity engine and the quest3d. So my tri count for this is 40k, which i think is ok for a next gen model.
Perna that's some freaky shit. Nice mat though!
Another Venus wip, think I'll start a thread soon. Working on the hands + water still. Lots to do, little time
raul: lovely high-poly goodness there. i like this machine alot, But what is it, lol?!:)
massbot: killer mermaid Venus. cool job on the tail and the more subtle forms on her body. are you going to work on the face anymore? it doesnt quite look finished.
thought i would throw down a sculpt iam working on, this telemark skier. still so much to do, but would love some crits on the gesture or anything else that might not be flowing. thanks.
Mostly done. 1 more design feature to do and some tightening up. Don’t mind the messiness on the jacket, most of the outsides will be lopped off by the edges of the skateboard.
Ahhh, been taking it back to traditional recently! A friend of mine has been really wanting a painting from me, so she'll be getting one this Xmas :P
Acrylic on Canvas, 10x20":
Sigh, it's hard to take a good photo of a painting. Hope this one does it some justice, though :P
telmac - Looks alright so far, but keep in mind, the prettier the face, the harder it is to paint. A much rougher face would have more variation of shades, and would be easier to do a value study on. I suppose it wouldn't be quite as fun as painting Beyonce, though :P
Makkon - Really nice!! Not sure I'm digging the oversived head, though, but I still like
I've been trying to figure out how to go about the environment textures with this for 2 days now - I'm so slow and not made for stuff like this
Basically I'm trying to build a car chase scene out of this. Trying to squeeze everything into a 256 texture, but I guess the cars themselves will get another texture sheet. We'll see
Learned a ton of new stuff with this scene already. Got to know Array, Loft, Path Deform tool a lot better (1% better actually :poly136:)
Mezz : I think you can push the forms of water a bit more. Right now it looks like a frozen water fall. What ever you do with it, you have a very good eye for color.
mezz very nice indeed, although I agree with Katana on the water, maybe adding slightly different tint variations it ll give it some motion/deph. I really like the trees!
My final project for my Environments class. Its basically a floating castle to the Japanese thunder god Raijin. I still need to add some lightning and then render!

btw achellisan, really cool man!!
Hey, it was just a joke D.O.G is specifically animated like a gorilla throughout HL2, not saying Maze was copying.

Lol dude Jaco made that, not you.

^_^
So much fantastic work in this thread
Picked up an old model. That I want to complete now.
Around 3k tris, without the mirrored parts.
I am uncertain about the dish, should I add more sides?
quick hp for a larger scene.
perna> cool.
raul> sweet dude. 40 k does seem steep, but it's a nice high fidelity asset, so I guess it works.
so... here are my failed 3d models :P
a Shotgun with a scope...sort of :P
And i kinda tried to make a Scar :PPP

Did you see the announcement?
Working on a value study of Beyonce. Having a lot of fun

Cloth's still a challenge though.
TT was on showcase earlier and got me wanting to come back to this, originally for a GA mini I'm gonna try and crack out the whole figure
Looks lovely, I specialy like the forest part about, well done

I like how you've put some tiny little leaves on the stones that get the eyes interested, Mezz
@mikezoo: very cool and refreshing model. Nice chance, yet it shows the clothes and hard surface ability perfectly. Nice work !
Any suggestions?
I think you should add it to the SDK thread if its unwrapped.
test bake on my space dude, pretty happy with it.
Added a new layer on details and worked on the back, the back needed some extra love
I was gonna paint over that middle one this afternoon anyways. Feel really bad about it buddy.
Progress
Oh, that's alright then! still seems to be in your pic though?
Is that an apology?
A test in sculpting wood in Zbrush. Turned out better than I thought it would.
baby goron all grown up, head of the tribe type of thing. very wip
