So, I took a class called "Survey of Bay Area Architecture", it's an Interior Architecture and Design class, but it can be taken as a Liberal Arts course by other Majors. The Final Project varies based on Major, IAD majors have to do an 18"x24" exterior rendering of a Bay Area building built in the last 10 years or in planning.
So, for my final I will be modeling and texturing a model of a building. I've got 36 Hours Before I have to present this... at least all MY UVs are done.
Acumen - Thanks! But I can't take credit for the leaves--I was just following my reference :P
katana & maze - Thank you very much for the kind words! However, regarding the water, I'm not gonna touch it anymore because I'd be worried about making it worse at this point. I was also just following my very impressive reference image (see link below!). I realize if it wasn't captured in a photo that way, the water would look different. Unfortunately, I don't have the reference for it, and can't make it on par with the rest of the painting without a good image to compare it to.
In await of my thread approval, I already post my work here. It's a PPSH-41 I have to make for school. I'm not satisfied yet with the result but don't know how to improve things. ^^
Any tips?
@Polygoblin: the wood on this weapon is also handpainted, is it this you're looking for?
I have posted this model in my Apocalyptic Corn Field thread, but just wanted to post it up here to show what I've been up to. I'm really pleased with how this turned out; it's my first proper subdivision modelling attempt. I've only really modelled simple props before.
Looks nice PogoP. I would add damage and zones were you can see the metal under all the paint, this kind of trucks gets their wheels and other part very scratched and rusty with the use. Right now it looks like a Brand new Truck with some mud stains on it ^^

Looking at your ref there, I count 9 of those big window sections, and your model only has 8. you may want to pull in another one of those just because i can see you losing points for that.
Now that I finished both cars, I don't know what to make out of the racetrack scenery. So much texture space left
Maybe I can come up with an interesting shortest track of the world scenario

Looking good! Maybe you could add some props on the scenery to use the extra texture space? Road signs, shrubs, stones, railroad crossings, guardrails...do you plan on having the sky/background visible?
Great suggestions, felipefrango - actually the railroad is pretty intriguing, gotta sleep over that idea. Also I thought about some simple trees, quite similar to certain levels of the original need for speed.
I actually want to add a rather simple "skydome" (if you can call it like that) with some cloud alphas.
Basically I want to have only a short piece of a racetrack that I can show off from some different angles - not too much work in the end, just a mockup, if you want. Though I've been playing with the idea of rocky landscape on one side and sea/ocean on the other side of the road, but that would mean lots and lots of more work. Still undecided.
fabio brasilien, haha, you got me on this one
My excuse would be that I only travel by bus and don't know how big actual cars are - in the end I just failed at proper scaling once more.

Thanks, I totally missed that last night, I must have lost track of the number of sections, I should try not working so late...

Personally I like the idea of having the sea on one side a lot more than filling the scene with trees, feels a little claustrophobic. Reminds me of Outrun, could be some interesting reference for ya (if it isn't already). Maybe just make the other side a cliff, with guardrails alongside the road and a nice beach on the background, some palm trees, I don't know. Whatever you do I think will look cool.
And I hadn't noticed the scale thing until fabio mentioned and now I can't unsee it, but it's an easy fix.
This isn't even remotely game art, sorry guys. I'm doing a Mucha study. It's still pretty rough, I have a TON of tweaking and real work to do on this.
This is AWESOME. I love Mucha and was just thinking the other day at work how cool it would be to do a Mucha inspired 3D piece. I'll be following this one for sure.
Well, whipped up some quick textures and materials for that building. Tossed it in UDK, lit it, and took some shots. So, here are a few of my presentation shots.

I welcome all feedback, and would especially appreciate tips on hand-painting polished wood grain. This guy's rifle is giving me a headache

here's a test render of a small scene I did. I think of maybe adding AO or to help the scene.

Loving it!
Some Character I made. That is supposed to be a turntable. Need to do another shot to show it proper..
