Pickin' up the pieces after my starcraft mod crashed and burned, getting back to my art roots and joined a team as the artist.
Teammates are slackin' and the mod will probably never finish, but screw it i need some portfolio pieces
Should be fun rigging and animating her, but i have a lot of texture cleanup before i get to that. We're going for a medieval/ sci fi look. Really itchen to work on some sci fi brute type characters next!
A little something I'm working on... It's the super shredder! At the end of the secret of the ooze Shredder drinks up all the ooze and mutates with himself instead of an animal... I figured he would look like a hulk sort of thing with the blades sticking out of his skin like hedgehog spikes... or something
The head size didn't increase as much during the mutation process so that's why the helmet is still intact(plus without the helmet he's not really shredder).
Still work in progress but feel free to give me critique!
@lupi - Glad you liked the style.. @jmiles, Krooked saint - Well nothing really special with the texture, I handpainted them on Photoshop added an AO then a few color adjustments..btw the images I'm posting are MAX renders, just experimenting first on the art style..Thing is I still have to figure out how to translate the style inside UDK..The bloom effect & toon outline effect I think I can figure out but this is what I'm really aiming for, art style wise(pencil sketch texture over shadowed areas)>
I'm no technical artist & I'm still learning UDK so if someone has an idea on how to make this style please do help me out..thanks:)
This is a character I've been working on lately just as a personal exercise. I'm aiming for ~20K tris. I'm still working on the head. Just can't seem to get her to look exactly how I want!

Let me know what you think!
So how do you want her to look? And I assume that's a rain coat and you got the normal map on?
Now onto how I think: great job with the the legs.
thanks guys added the straps and a bit of tension to the jacket, and detailed the back piece with safety pins and stitching, still refining the trousers so they flow better though and then I can work into them with seams and the fractual design. I got a few little things still need doing to the jacket aswell I also played with the face a lil, hes looking a bit more stylised now but I think it fits the style.
I remember playing this game back in the day, and loved it. I think you did a great job recreating the character. nice sculpting on the folds
Learned Unity this weekend. This is awesome, wish I'd checked it out sooner, it's exactly what I've been wanting. The work flow is perfect and the tuts are awesome, did the 3d and 2d tuts, made a bunch of content for a 2d scroller, then decided I might as well just do 3d.
Got an old model rigged, animated and in game. Wanted to get the workflow down, now I'll start a serious project.
Did a quick sketch based on a charcoal drawing I did last year. Just for practice, really. I'm still not very good when it comes to painting in Photoshop, so I figured this would be a good way to go about learning. I just eyeballed the whole thing, so there are a lot of issues, but whatever.
james9475 - thats awesome, saw it on kotaku aswell
massbot - lovely sculpts, looking forward to more
richikiller - awesome folds, maybe too much geo in the hands though
thanks guys
pretty much done on the high poly now, few folds to sort out still
crazyfool: Very nice man, if I can crit one thing it would be the jacket. You've got these awesome hard edges and forms going on, and in comparison the jacket's looking a bit 'doughy' and unrefined (most noticeable along the bottom edge)
Yet another WIP Zbrush bust from teh Scooberz that'll probably never get totally finished.
Eye balls are just placeholder for Zbrushing and will get redone when she makes the leap to real-time. Stole some photo refs for the eyebrows, a little bit on the lips and around the eyelids, rest is hand polypainted.

My thoughts exactly... it's quite a unique look and I'd love to know how you achieved it!
Keep it up!

nice, looking good Jeff! You should use some alpha planes in her hair to break up her silhouette overall, I think that would really help it over all!
and your finished textures will come out awesome i'm sure
Let me know what you think!
They are some fast concept sculpts for a group project me and some friends are starting.
:poly115: So freaking nice! Love the folds! I demand that you show us the head! NOW!!!

Does it look like the Mad Hatter on purpose?

Had a bit of free time tonight to work on the folds a bit more. NOW BED!!
