Hi Everyone! I've lurked this some for a long time but the Dota 2 contest finally made me want to join. I'm looking forward to participating with everyone and learning new things with the community.
I've played TF2 forever, and DOTA 2 for the past several months.
Recently, I've been dabbling off and on in modeling and animating for a little under a year now, mostly for my own amusement, and partially with the hope of maybe contributing to the community. I even got as far as actually submitting an item to the DOTA 2 workshop (Viewable here, if anyone's interested http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=98325286&searchtext= ), though looking back, it's obvious now how much I have yet to learn.
With the new Polycount DOTA 2 contest, I figured now was as good a time as any to officially throw my hat into the ring, and start seriously modeling for both DOTA 2 and TF2. Actually taking this whole modeling thing seriously.
Getting my items into the game is nice, but I'm doing this primarily to better myself as a modeler and artist. To get my stuff out there, under some critical eyes. Maybe even offer some advice of my own, for what little it might be worth.
I look forward to working with all of you!
My name is Roman, I'm an aspiring 3D modeler with a great passion for video games. I have no professional education in the 3D field, I learned it by myself or through my friends who have experience as well as through any training videos I could find. I'm part of a mod team for a HL2 mod as a texturer/modeler/animator, but lately i've been lazy and haven't done anything for the mod. Real life is a bi$&h and work became a bigger priority.
I've submitted a TF2 item, just the single one for now, that was my first submission, ill link it here. I then submitted a Night Stalker set but that had soo many mistakes so now im trying to rectify those for Version 2. I was always fascinated by the polycount forums, so much talent on this website. Like a goody bag filled with favorite candy. I signed up for Dota 2 Polycount contest, to improve my skills.
I just got out af gamedevelopment university, but still feel a little insecure on my 3D. So I joind to get feeb back on my models. Here is the latesbase mesh: Going for a normal map now
Hello. I am pretty new here and I want to learn more about 3D editing. Tips and tricks. As of now I am using 3D-Coat. Hopefully somebody could help me out with it. Just shoot me an PM.
I'm a Junior VFX artist for games, currently working on a project in UDK that will render 4 environments simultaneously. I've floated around Polycount for a while but need some tech support and this place is the best for that.
Hello all, new here but I hope to be using these forums a lot more. I'm joining to submit some stuff for the dota 2 item set competition. Excited to get started on my WIP thread for it, already doing up some concept art for my ideas.
Thanks for hosting and moderating competitions like this, it's great for the community and great for my resume
Hi, I'm a BAFTA winning game developer who's just started a new studio. I'm looking for talented artists to work with on social/mobile games. www.flyinganyday.com
Hello good people! I finally decided it was time to sign up here. Google is already a best friend, but there is always a tricky question that even Google can't find. For those questions I'm sure the good people of Polycount can help.
Hello people, been browsing around for some time, and been recently learning 3d modeling for the last month, and willing to learn more in the very near future.
Hello! I'm a student in 3D modeling looking to enter Polycount's DOTA2 competition. Looks fun! I look forward to seeing what people come up with. And I read the thread. W00T!
Just stopping by to say hello, hoping to get into game development/art. I am going to try and model something for the dota 2 competition. I am alright at modeling(i think), but I have no idea how your are supposed to create textures for objects. I work in maya and want to learn zbrush whenever i get the chance.
I've been lurking, reading, watching, checking out and admiring all the work shown here for quite some time now. I was finally convinced to create an account and try to get involved.
I'm a complete Novice but I'm a quick learner when the right resources are pointed out to me. Now that I have a computer that doesn't drop it's pants and cry each time I try to bake a texture map, I'm trying to learn more on creating detailed textures.
I'm pretty thick skinned, so I am looking for to getting a whole lot of C&C from all of you.
Howdy. I am in the Dota2 beta and saw the contest in the newsfeed. I'm new to modeling but recently acquired a copy of zbrush 4r4. I'd appreciate any kind of help I could get. Is zbrush a good program to use?
