Not entirely sure this counts as a "speed model" per se, but it did only take about 4 hours from sculpt to textured low poly. I'll delete it if it doesn't fit the thread criteria, but it's going in WAYWO too.
Was done for a facial animation test I was working on with a programmer friend. Never went anywhere, but I kinda like it, so didn't want it to waste away on my hard drive.
Hey Jeremy, I am really loving the look and style of this guy. Do you use the polish brushes to get those planes, or is it trim dynamic/flatten? Really awesome man.
Yeah, sculptris *IS* amazing, but it lacks a certain sense of control. While using the alphas a year ago i frequently im/exported between sculptris and max, especially for thin sections, leg symetry, etc. Like this guy which i never did finish, probably won't ever "finish" it, and will always want to return to it and add more detail...

Thanks for that.
I've actually never got the polish brush to work the way I want. What I used there was Clay Tubes, Flatten, and Smooth brushes. And the occasional Pinch tool, with lazy mouse on. For the hair, I just masked off the areas I wanted for the hair, invert that selection, and use Inflate from the Deformations menu in Tools, then crisp it up a bit with lazy moused Pinch, and smooth brushes
gaganjain: Thanks! And no. I have another dude lined up that sort of looks like him though, but I'll start from scratch on that one. You know, practice 'n stuff.
man i could never get the hang of sculpting at all and didn't feel comfortable doing it, but i tried sculptris out and wow what a diff was able to cap this before it crashed at around 6 mil polys stupid sub all button.
Loving this thread. It's become a habit to look here every morning to get inspiration (as well as the "what have you been working on" thread). Such great work guys.
Just a bit of anatomy study from me today. Done in about 2-3 hours (while chatting to friends).
About 1 hour, including making PSD and upload to Photobucket.
Wanted to sculpt exaggerated proportions, first thing that came to mind was Bo Mathorne and his group's Backwater Gospel
Cool! The Silence, I thought, was a really cool character design. Especially in the black suit and tie. Awesome aesthetic. Good job catching the likeness!
Ferg: big props to you dude!
Some anatomy facial feature study. Went a bit mad with the details I guess.
About 2h in total I think, maybe a bit less, sculpted from a zbrush plane primitive.
Ravenslayer: I hardly ever use claytubes to be honest. Of all the clay brushes that one feels the least organic to me. But that's a personal preference. When I'm forming mass I generally just use the clay brush + Dam standard + move (topological) combo for defining the major forms and then I take a second pass on it with the clay brush on a very low intensity to define the subtle dimpling & raised surfaces of skin.

I like him but boy I have so little control

I sketched around a bit before working it into planes, felt like a good flow but DAMN I missed 3dsmax then :lmao:
not quite on character yet and needs details etc but good practise
Thanks for that.

Did a google search for Aliens and found a ref image of this guy. Had no idea it was from Dr. Who until a co-worker pointed it out.

Do you mainly use a standard brush for adding mass or do you use claytubes and smooth it out?
