I woke up in the morning and I suddenly got the cravings for a shotgun, so I went out and found myself a picture of an Ithaca Model 37 and went on from there. Still needs something to cover those naked polygons, but I'll leave that for another day.
I haven't created anything in 3D for a long while. So I'm trying to get back into the swing of things by doing some simple weapon modeling. It's been harder than I thought it would, having to learn some new things plus relearn some stuff I had forgotten.
Anyway, I was inspired by some of the weapon concepts for Warhammer Online and decided to come up with something of my own. This is just the high poly version for now. I plan on unwrapping the low poly version in the next couple of days.
This is a first post for me. I've lurked around the boards in the past and am in awe of some of the work shown here.
I am using hardware mode, it wont even let me select software mode. I think it is all of Vista's useless services that are running for no apparent reason. I am not sure which ones are safe to disable though.
hey buddy, had the same problem, tried everything and only solved it switching to win xp. a bit extreme but the performance gain is worth it.
Diffuse needs alot more work, but I'm actively trying to be tidier in my diffuse maps with this, seems to be working. Also needs a final AO bake.
Its going in a portfolio, eventually, and I had originally wanted to model everything (in screenshot there) but I will finally use alpha cards to save myself a swift 5k tris.
edit: oh and also WIP:
Gonna be my first time really painting a model. Bit rough but hey its made outta card.
(ps sorry for butchering the concept, Epic!)
Not sure what you mean but maybe this answers it? The floor was created with normal map filter but the wall sections will all be baked from high poly meshes.
Greets all, been away for a bit and the good stuff has mounted up in this thread. ImSlightlyBored - Even though it's card, the saw looks dangerous:poly114b:
GCMP: those uber- distorted perspectives make it look amateurish to me - like someone playing for the first time with FOV. Honestly I suggest using less extreme FOV values or if you want it that extreme better with a barrel distortion shader
borrowed one of these pen devices (undortunately a genius, not wacom, but its already great)
now i know how you guys create these concept things^^ like it
renderhjs - Haha, honestly it was a mistake made early on while working from ortho's, besides I thought it looked coolish, sort of showroomy, maybe not then! Ta for link
A lot of really nice work fellas. So much inspiration in here.
Here a a few things i'm working on at the moment. Please give me some c&cs if you can. This is a mini environment i'm doing for the portfolio. I know this building may stand out to most of you, i'm trying to modernize it a little bit but still trying to keep an antique 40's-50's era style and not look like it's been riddled with bullets:
This is a capsule of some sorts just the high poly so far. This was something I did earlier but I decided to redo the high poly version:

Got carried away on a speed model that didn't end up being all that speedy. Zbrush and polypaint:
Badass Artem!

Reminds me of Dharman from Afro Samurai (the evil scientist that put the teddy bear samurai back together), looks awesome.

i would suggest using smoother lines for the hair, you can try to brush these out with a pencil, or try carving it in

Cute Ball.
started off as moondust silver, was trying to get the ASBO orange paintjob you see on the Euro Focus STs that Jeremy Clarkson loves so much
Achmed - what's the poly count for that comp? His face and hands are more detailed than the rest - will the body have more polys cut in later?
Really early wip of a star wars 'trade federation cruiser' modular hallway.
needed a change from this :poly141:
