karera:: this is looking really nice, I know its a bit to ask but is it possible to see this guy with a flat gray material of some sort on him, it seems your adding in alot of details (pores and such?) but due to the coloring your doing right now its kinda getting washed out so I cant give a full critique
his leg/ foot from the side view look a bit unusual, hair is another area cant tell it looks like a flat black , but looking good so far!
Haven't really started with the foot or fixing the hands yet, i usually start messing with nails and such when i reach higher subdiv levels.
I can agree with u that it's hard to see all the details. I will look into a more promising material right now, thanks for the nice words!
Illustration I'm currently working on. My drawing skills are not as great as I'd like, so I did a quickie to get an approximation of lighting and form. Its gonna get the Painter X treatment.
karera - his cheeks are too sucked in but coming along nice overall. The face is letting it down the most I feel
lil zbrush love on my rocket man. long way to go still.
Thanks man, i was just thinking about flattening out the cheeks a bit, kept it so long because i thought it added character. but it's simply not realistic if you compare to other sumos faces, it's very sleek and round. So thats gotta go, thanks for letting me realize it
Nice rocket man, i love the cavity effect on the material, makes it look comic style
What are u planning on doing with him?
aH, I see now that the belt have been gettin' all wobbly after moving it around so much in zbrush.. will probably redo it to make it cleaner like i want it..
But dang, zbrush crashed on me once while i was happy with the new face.. Will probably tweak some more tomorrow after i get some sleep.
Nice work as always vivi, but the first pic seems like the map could use some cooler colors in it, as it's coming off as a bit too orangey.
Working on a revamp of Xaero from q3, stuck to the original design for the most part, but redesigned the robotic arm thing because the low poly model part was a bit confusing to look at, so I went with a more simple streamlined design rather than going for the technlogical clusterfuck look.
I will be redoing the claw part, looks way too flimsy.
Nice mesh, is there a reason for the odd arm pose? I've seen similar ones cropping up from the dudes at/worked with 8 Monkey Labs but I'm still not sure what it improves.
It makes sense to use a pose like that, since its much closer to the pose the models will be in game (holding a gun, animated.) How many times have you seen a character strike a T pose during a game?
Yeah, I get that much, I tend to go for a sort of relaxed T-pose usually as it's more natural than a full-on Jesus Christer.
It was the wrist joint being parallel to the elbow joint (with the palm running flush with the flat of the inner forearm) that confused me. In most common poses, they'd be closer to being opposing, with the forearm providing a near 90 degree twist - which seems counter to the "similar to most common poses" thing.
Johny, that mesh looks pretty...strange. Proportions are off a fair bit - short arms, weird shaped torso, legs bending oddly. Also you seem to have tons of extra loops around the elbow, forearm and lower leg for no real reason.
karera - its improving but the arms seem a tad muscular and the shoulder muscle is a bit off
face is better but there are some odd things going on arounfdthe crease betwen the nose and the cheeks.
i would say its 75 perecent there, but needs pushing a bit more

If you plan on modeling a 3D bust to go in that frame, I want to see you model the hatching on that too

will make more damaged variation
this is for an xna game me and a coder are working on. Been slow progress, but its starting to come together now.
The lack of reference is hampering as I have to work out the detail from this grainy snap
SHEPEIRO -looks good so far perhaps the arches are a bit too round ie should be more pointy
But dang, zbrush crashed on me once while i was happy with the new face.. Will probably tweak some more tomorrow after i get some sleep.
Hope u can see the details a bit better now..
update:
quick crappy rig- teeth will be dumbed down.

Will move on to the lowpoly now
