uh erm... i have 1.43 million visible polies in screen, 1.3 is from the bust itself, 39k from the theeth, 63k from the the eyes and 9k are his glasses, starting with a box i always end up with 5 million, so having a base that has extra subdivisions for nose and ears saves me one iteration
PC1 is Athlon X2 4200, 1 Gig Ram and a 7800GTX
PC2 is Dual Xeon 3200, 2 Gig Ram and the same graphics card, when i'm getting above 7 million i need the second PC because of the Ram, this System can handle up to 10 Million

Hello Thar! My pc is X2 4200+, 2GB, 7600gt (256ddr3 128-bit [it's the issue of lag in mudbox <<at 500k+>> I guess).
Ive found it really pays to have a good workflow and large brushes first and then use smaller and smaller brushes as you go up in subD levels. I didnt realise mudbox works this way and was a little to find how slow it was to very make large bulges or alterations in the overall shape on a 1.2mil poly mesh...but now Ive learnt how to use it properly its not bad at all.
thought i'd join the cool kids in here now that i have a sculpting proggie of my own. trying to get a feel for 3d sculpting. it's .. totally the same and not the same thinking muscle as painting i have to say.
about an hour in silo 2 beta from arsh's bust. boohoohooo so emo...
How do you guys do hair? Am I on the right track...? I'm using a normal brush to pull out the hair geometry and then pinching the middle of the strokes and also inbetween them.

hood base from the lowpoly head thread. These are fun!
I'm not quite sure how to make the hair look better without spending hours on it.
