Here's a little something i've been working on the last couple of days, somewhat.
Probably not done with the mesh just yet, as the polyrate still is quite.. hmm, high. Though the thing Im meddling with as for the moment, and I just started, is as the 2nd img tells, a try for a normalmap, in the end it'll be at least. :P
Finished at last. Sorry for the blurry pics - proper photo session is this Wednesday (warhammer night at the bookshop where this is headed). The purity seal on the gun body is glueing at the moment which is why there's no pics of the other side yet - if I turn it over before the epoxy's cured it'll fall off. You can see the purity seal on the mag better in the second pic. The guys in the bookshop haven't seen this yet - they're gonna freak.
Warhammer 40,000 weapons and armour have purity seals on them to... well.. mark their purity. I think the ribbons have prayers or incantations on them to ward off malfunction or improve the weapons effectiveness (or whatever). Anyway they're allover the place in warhammer artwork.
well i have stricter texture than tri limits, =P could have smoothed it off way more, but i dont want it to look stoopidly detailed next to other assets in the game, as it is its in keeping without any alpha problems esp with mipmaps.
this will only ever be... what like 256 pixels long in game anyway
that indian is very nice, renaud. but so far i find it a bit hard to read the mouth expression, something strange seems to go on with the mouth corners.
i just started something new, for playing around with fx composer and preparing for new jobs mostly. hair will be covered by a "pickelhaube" helmet later, so not much emphasis on that.
You probably SHOULD use ref untill you can model proper edge loops in your sleep and THEN try some free hand.
*edit* Didn't mean to sound harsh there. Just giving my advice. I in no way am eluding to the fact that I can make models with perfect anatomy and edge loops in my sleep either. It's just always a good idea to start off taking in as much ref as you can.
However harsh his words may be, he's right. You need to use a reference until you do it naturally. In fact, even when you can do it naturally, you should still use a reference of some kind.
Ok so here is where I am at this point. Its all pretty simple at this point. I want to take it into Zbrush and sexy it up. Any one know some good tutorials on Zbrush? I kinda have a basic understanding of the program but I havent just had that AH HA moment with it yet. So any help with Zbrush would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone wants to see some wires or previous stages they are on the page prior to this one.
Androgeny is one of the key features of "beauty". Do a lot of facial drawing studies and you start to notice this. Thats why runway model girls look like guys and model guys look like girls 1/2 the time
Edit: Looking good, Ben! In with the ninja post...
Vahl's paintover of hiss girl inspired me to do a some work on a model thats been sitting here for a while, and my own crappy paintover w00t. Yes the eyes look CRAZY. i know hehe

So here is what I have been messing around with.
There are definitely some issues. Around the eyes, and nose.
Any comments?

Shouldn't the seal be made from wax? Looks more like a red shirt button ATM.

HAHA yes it does! A bloody big shirt button though. It looks better in real life - honest.
I haven't done anything for fun in awhile, so I started making a character. She'll have arms and hair one day.
Freehand, no references. No wait, i looked in the mirror occasionaly.

You should do a full fledged illustration with her holding a chainsaw or something.
