Hey all...its been awhile since I've been on the forums. Been pretty busy.
Decided to really get serious about normal mapping so this is my first really attempt at trying a "pretty" face. Don't have much experience with normal mapping characters so any type of feel back would be hugely appreciated! Not sure if I'm going to build a whole character with this head or not....I guess if I can do a good job with the head I'll decide from there. I haven't taking the model into mudbox yet...wanna get as much done in 3Dmax as I can. Anyway let me know what you think....
When can I buy one of those Scooby? Loving the lines on the side view, 3/4 is nice too. Top view is a little wonky, but you don't see cars often from that angle.
Well..I finally got to end of this amazing thread. Managed to fill up a folder with about 24 meg's of stuff to look at and learn from. You all do excellent work...I'll be back with something soon...

Can't wait to see that scene finished, Xeno.
How much did the base and the little coloured thingies cost in total? An idea worth stealing...

The pegboard cost $10 for 4 six inch squares that can snap together. Each board is 29x29 in terms of how many beads it'll fit.
The final 'thing' is gonna be 256x176, so that's about 45,000 pieces. Bags of 1000 are under $3, and some colors have bags of 6000 for $7.
They either go by the name of Hama Beads or Perler Beads, depending on where you are. You'll probably be able to find places to by them from googling, or even on Amazon.
I'll put up a newer picture later today. Finished with a section 50x50, but didn't iron it long enough, so when I turned it over to fuse the other side the center parts mostly just flew apart.

Having done some very similar stuff a couple of years ago I can't wait to see how this all turns out.
You might want to sharpen things up a bit though and not use the layer styles as much, or at least with the blending modes you're using currently - the black and white shadows/highlights don't look natural.
Nice form there Gavku. He reminded me of this little imp I modeled and started sculpting around two weeks ago. I had to abandon him though for now since I moved on to a new character.
