Peek at one of the weapons I've made for a Unity weapon pack I'm making, going for a more subdued vibe as opposed to OTT Epic weps.

I'm a kinda beginner in handpainted textures, (and in 3D on average) and I'm working on a personal project to improve my skills but got stuck yesterday night. That's how it's looking so far.
It's inspired by @AntonioNeves's works due to I really like his style. Thanks for sharing that short "tutorial"/advice
Those gray squares are supposed to be wicks yet... Would like that the background of the gray planes turn transparent, I'm pretty sure this is so silly but... I don't have the least idea what I have to do. Could someone help me out? I'm using Photoshop and Marmoset for rendering.
Thanks in advance!

This really depends on your setting... if you're outdoors the wind will always have an effect on the surface of the water... the only time water is fully still is when it's in an interior setting without the force of wind e.g. in a coffee mug, etc... so ideally the water would be transparent with a tint of blue... if you're going for an exterior water look with a little bit of wind I'd say you're on the right track, just maybe cut down the density/jaggedness of those waves to compensate for how harsh you want your wind force to be in your scene.
P.S. Water is pretty much all about reflection and refraction, so also depending on your scene... if it's in a swimming pool, maybe paint in the refraction of the surface below it, if you don't want that and just want clear water... then paint in some suggested reflections and variations of colours.
I also saw this awhile back hopefully it helps you
Hope that helps (Y)
