Lyaksander -- turned out great, especially the face. Polycount and texture sizes?
Thanks!
She's about 13.5k with 2048x1024 for the head and 2048x2048 for the body. Although the displacement-mapped turntable version uses the source 4k texture for the body. I'll be updating my WIP thread here with some wires and texture sheets once I get some sleep.....
My model is more cartoony looking not so dark, more like WOW style
I still need to fix some stuff like seams and lighting. If you have any suggestions let me know!
looking really awesome Arkadius! only thing that jumps out at me as something that could improve it, is the soft parts of the legs could vary a bit more from the harder shell parts. The corrosive sacs look freaking awesome atm!
Thanks allot Ruz ,I sorta took a page out of the animation mentor bishop 2.0 rig and turned one bender into like 30 different characters inside one character rig .Total pain in the ass but worth it in the end .Best part to is I also am doing the Wooden Bender .
I also have a medieval inspired scene I'm working on. The pic below is just showcasing what I've made so far so it's not representative of the final composition and total assets.
Thanks guys, I'll see what I can do to the flesh parts, most of the love has gone to the carapace and bulbs.
I rendered the High poly in modo, its a simple set up. Mainly GI lighting with a hit of SSS, displacement(16bit) and normal map from zbrush, and a slight noise procedural shader in the spec.
Here is the the scence file if anyone wants to take a look at the settings, I replaced the mesh with a sphere and didn't include the maps so it would upload faster.
my Bioware contest entry, there's still quite a lot to work on, but this has to be submitted by midnight. I'll just post these 2 shots here, and make a separate thread after I'm done with this character: head, pose, good presentation and lighting
I worked some more on this here based on some of the critiques I got. I tried to improve the forearms and where the biceps dives into them also scaled downthe hands with 10% or so, Worked some more on the lats and on the part where the quads originate and how the leg transitions into the upper body. I might have to stop now as I have to get to the low poly and baking
So much good stuff in this thread as usual, never stops coming.
Calling this done for now, I really want to move on to something new. Thank you guys for all the help! You can see more images and information in my portfolio.
Sligatecentral: like most of your stuff, that a frickin epic model, and maybe it's because I haven't played ME3, but he looks way more like something out of Crysis than Mass Effect.
Ravenslayer: Awesome concept, hope to see him modeled as well:)
Hey, made this for the WoW student art contest. I want to polish it up more when I get the chance for a possible portfolio piece so any advice/critiques would be awesome, thanks
@WNunes27, the face is really boring from the front, geometry wise. He could use either a stronger cheak bone, jaw, or brow. I love the armor and weapon, but the skin/fur feels a bit flat.
I have been neglecting some of my portfolio pieces presentation (too much alliteration there). Here is the updated shot of my Viper Mk II inside Unreal Engine.
swizzle, love her face shape, its really fresh! i think you might want to scale back the blue tones in the lower part of her face, its dangerously close to looking like 5 o'clock shadow at a distance, not quite there, but could be scaled back a little.:poly122:
I've been working on this for the last few weeks on and off, something isn't quite right about it though- I did start on the low poly version and even started texturing it but decided to get some of the niggly things sorted so gone back to the high poly to fix some bits.
Another night long love affair with the devilish mistress: digital painting.
I really hope I'm moving in the right direction with this stuff. I'm not sure what I really need to work on with my 2d Artwork but I feel like it's not living up to the standards I want it at.
Aw well. Just gotta keep burning that midnight oil till I get where I need to be
