You guys are doing too much bad ass art for me to keep up :P
crossposting from my thread, i took a small break from the chic i was working on and started doing this and it was so much fun i kept on working on him, its still rough but its been tonnes of fun just learning how to get some hardsurface stuff that looks more polished in zbrush, i hope you guys like it, any feedback and critiques is welcome.
Hey good guys, let me share some stills of the next character i'm working on.
It's one of the Mudd Brothers, Bill, from the beyond godlike comics THE GOON. More coming soon. Hope you'll like it.
Cross post from my thread. Here is a study I did, trying to learn more about rendering and presentation. Going to keep doing these studies since there alot of fun took about 4hours to sculpt it. Concept Leyendecker.
@Fewes I'm not an environment artist by any means, but the red rugs on the floor look a bit too saturated (they don't blend in to the environment as well as they could unless done on purpose). I would tone done the intensity a touch. Otherwise, looking great - love the creepy atmosphere! Makes me think of Amnesia.
@Zwebbie Nice head man. One thing I'd look at is the shape of her lips - right now they're kinda flat and seem tensed. Although there are people with the parting line of the lips that is completely straight, adding some slight curves would make them look better. Another thing I'd try to change is probably her stare. Based on the position of her eyes, she looks scared/surprised but her eyebrows aren't moved up like they should be thus creating the unnatural look. If she's looking down, then the eyelids would come down as well.
I assume it's the landing and settle movements that are coming off floaty, yes?
Most of the animation feels floaty, but it's most obvious in the landing and settle movements, yes. The initial jump is a bit weird, people don't often jump from a kneeling position. Since his legs are really far apart, it's similar to landing on a skateboard, look at some videos of that as reference and see how the body absorbs the impact, http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8dds_utEXTg#t=0

That is an immensely useful reference! Thanks! I'd never have thought to look at a skateboarder's movements for this.
Hello really awesome work in here (ainsley your study is nice))! here's a couple of Hard Surface Studies i did recently
Crits are highly welcome! Thank you, Bob.
Trying to get a blockout(very very blockout) I like I've gone through a few different ideas but i really wanna make something that looks like alium stuff. Ominous and scurry, this is still a total blockout I did most of it tonight for idea sake, including the single normal map im using on everything. I am hoping to see if I can tell a story. I am still in the idea phase with this so yeah. Anyways enough talk.
here are two other directions I was considering before this blockout. http://i.imgur.com/3FevISE.png http://i.imgur.com/rXCT3u9.jpg

Looks pretty cool so far! The current blockout feels like something you'd see in Halo around the Prophets or something. I like this one over the other two images just because of that. :poly121: Some lights along the base of each pillar and holographic/emissive lines along the walkway too. Not sure if that's what you had in mind, but that's what I pictured immediately.
So i did this today when because i was bored and there are far to many joker and batmang sculpts allready so heres Mr. Freeze and a terrible timelapse to go with it.
I really need tips on how to make youtube videos properly all of my time lapses look terrible.

Cheers, Kot, I agree with you on both counts and I'll try to change the lips and eyes as soon as I get the chance.
I hope you don't take this comment as being obligatory on my part, but I like the faces you've been making in the past few weeks they've got a lot of character. I think you might be overdoing the sharpness of your lines a bit, though; the ears, the nostrils, the vermilion border, the way the frontal plane of the nose is separated from the lateral, they're all rather sharply defined and to me it looks like a hint of stylisation which is a bit at odds with the naturalism of the proportions and textures you've got going on.

Speed sculpt.
52 minutes of fun.
Animation assignment to do a ninja character jumping from one platform to another. I immediately thought of The Next Karate Kid and went that route.

Luke_Starkie: Thanks man, i really appreciate it i am going to finish this dude for sure
It's a little floaty, the landing and the kick could use a bit more impact.
