Another quick update. I tweaked the colors and added some variants. Play to keep it all hand painted so I'm trying different techniques. Some work some don't but it's a learning experience. Also tweaked the lighting into something that would be closer to the final render and match the Link Redesign I did previously.
I've been working on these 2 game characters for my last term at Gnomon, here's what I have for the final shots. The concepts belong to Ubermonster + Francis Tneh. Thief is rouglhy 14k poly, the fire magey is about 30k.
I'm taking a class in ZBrush and for our first assignment, the teacher had us take one of the stock models and play around with it. This is my attempt at a Star Trek-styled alien... thing....
First time using Zbrush so it's pretty bad, but hey, it's a start at least. Any pointers would be much appreciated!
Hello sweet PC, finally finished my rendition of Samuel Bellamy
Nice work on this Scyth. I think you could do better on that smoke effect though. The black outline from the alpha really gives it away. I'd try hand paint something in, or play around with rendering some smoke effects.
@NyneDown, workflows nothing special, just sculpt in zbrush ( depending on how spare time I have this could take me a week, I also try to do as much as possible in zbrush to save time jumping program to program) ,
retopo in zbrush and topogun. Uvmap in 3dsmax, then bake in xnormal and finally texture in PS.
Not really good at explaining my workflow but I guess its just pretty similar to everyone elses.

No problem man! Thanks for the explanation. Are you sure you dont have a "make art" button you're not telling anyone about?!? haha/jk
@bb0x - thanks for pointing that out...the texture isn't final, so I'm sure I'll go back over it again
I apologize for the spam of this guy, you are probably sick of seeing him. but updated images from my thread the last ones in WAYWO had errors. Also another close up....
looking good, great texture use,
I would make the walls a bit more dynamic though,
the roof is looking good but the walls are too straight, too blocky
in medival cartoony land they don't know what straight is if you get my meaning! xP
Hey guys,
sorry again for the shameless crosspost from my thread
I'm back with another little video to answer some question people were asking about my texturing process on the 3d model fan art of Ellie from the last of us. This is covering my photoshop pipeline, taking a look at my psd (photoshop) files, occlusion baking, hair planes process etc
My apologies again for the silly accent and I hope some people might found it helpfull

@Luke Starkie - nice work as usual! What's your typical workflow like?!? You pump out work so fast.
No big update on this dude, just a little more thorough polypaint to help me visualize him better.

Almost wrapped this up. A flintlock pistol with no flint!
Looks awesome looprix. Are you going for a more robotic look for samus?
Nice work man!
