The "stuttering" could be a lot of different things; - You might just have some keys that are too close together. - You might have keys that are between frames. This can happen if you try to move keys to a frame that already has keys, instead of replacing the ones that already exist, it will offset the new ones a tiny bit…
Farted around in UDK today..messing around with materials. The stripes are definitely crooked here...I just did a quick test..I tried making a texture using the R,G,and B values for different stripe masks... It looks pretty ugly right now..just did a quick test. so theoretically I could just change the color of bikes by…
So I decided to do something unstructured this weekend. Just pick something and doodle on it. So it all started with this image that I came across while searching the intertubes: Love the stylized skulls! Very good "Day of the Dead" vibe there. I got to thinking that it might be neat to do a tiling texture of skulls in…
So I've been doing a lot of ue4 mobile stuff at work lately and needed an outlet to make more interesting art. Don't know where I'm going with this, just sit down a few nights and see what pops into my head. Right now I'm going to push the vine/root growth more with debris and breakup. still plenty of proxy meshes in the…
I finally came around to upload the images for the DLC of Halo 5. I have been working with amazing people Adam Peterson, Ryan Roth, Shawn and Erik Amezcua - Environment artist, Josh Dean - Lighting artist. I don't rely on the texture to make a variety of the value. Instead I consider lots of layers and depth to create a…
Hey you lovely poly-extruders ! This is a quick scene I cobbled up with megascans assets to practice lighting in different times of day. HDRIs are from hdrihaven.com (f'ing love this site), the lighting is fully dynamic, using tinted DFAO and coloured bottom-skylight to fake light bounces, everything is lit via a…
Right now I'd say 'Material Primitives' is the best pieces in your portfolio, and shows the most potential for future growth. I'd recommend doing more painted material studies like that, and once you feel you've made progress try making some full-bright hand painted 3D pieces (avoid relying on normal maps and…
I have been testing how the new shader in Maya works but i am noticing a few bugs and issues with it. If there is more then 1 light in the scene, it seems to use only the first created light and disables the others. Now the lights can change but only 1 at a time by disabling the the current lighting one. Also if you…
i want a point light (omni) to follow something around within a scene. i'm trying to link it to that object, but it keeps telling me it would create a dependancy loop. i can link the light to a helper, but the helper can't be linked to anything else afterward. this one light must remain at a specific distance throughout…
It looks really really nice so far. What engine are you working in right now? Just a personal thought, I think the character almost dissapears in the brightness of the environment, when the character stood in the light he is barely visible. But it works great when he walked past the darker parts of the level.
