Edge constraint command maya mel Hi guys I have on doubt I used echo all command and got this command for edge constraint manipMoveSetXformConstraint edge; It was working fine but when I restarted maya Its not working? // Error: Cannot find procedure "manipMoveSetXformConstraint". Does someone know if its possible to do this? To only let the soft selection affect a particular edge loop? Ideal would be if you could select edges you only want it to affect then move the vert on the edge to adjust. this would be the best tool ever. Anybody know a maxscript for this?
Hi! In this case I would consider setting the 90 degree edges of the lowpoly to hard, as currently its shading has quite the gradients, which the normal map has to compensate for. Maya uses the shortest edge for triangulation and it will change which edge it's using as you edit your model. If you need to guarantee an edge just split that face the way you want. It will also flip edges while objects are animating if the shortest edge happens to change.
Does the lowpoly shading look good with the normal map applied? Hard edges are certainly useful to control the shading of the lowpoly, especially at steep angles - just remember to split the UVs along hard edges to avoid artifacts! ODins3d the slide edge tool is not quite the same. With Max's adjust loop tool it adjusts both edges on either side of selected edge at the same time. Maya is just sliding the selected edge.
workflow wise maya is different than Silo if you want to do a an edge loop insertion you have to use the "insert edge loop tool" and use it in an edge and it will split the rings of this edge.
Well, it's not one click there but almost: in edge mode select a single edge > edge loop> edge ring>vertical or horizontal. I have 3 neighboring keys appointed so it's like 1,2,3
