Merging only combines subtools to a single subtool/tool. They are still non-contiguous meshes. you would have to dynamesh them to continuously scult across them. or the recently released zplugin ZsceneManager allows you to sculpt across non-contiguous meshes.
(I'm very new to Polycount, so if I'm posting this in the wrong place or something, let me know.) I've challenged myself to make a new head (almost) every day, sculpt, then materials or retopo or both if I have time. I want to improve my sculpting skills and learn how to make decent characters that aren't weird or uncanny…
Hi Polycount! I done some sculpts in zbrush with the help of youtube mainly. And now I want to excel and get better at sculpting. I wonder now how to do this without spending money on online courses etc(In a perfect world I would do that but...The reason is that I'm studying engineering and dont have too much spare money…
Hi, I am new to mudbox so this is a newbie question. Basically, no matter what brush i click on except grab, nothing happens to the mesh when i scuplt on it. Its base layer.
So do you guys take sculpting classes and create real clay characters in order to get good with digital sculpting or that is not necessary and you can just get books and techniques of the fundamentals of traditional sculpting and apply it in the learning curve of mastering "digital sculpting" only?
Hi All, I am about to try to sculpt my first full character model (for game asset) in mudbox and my question is this; am I likely to get better results by importing and sculpting the whole mesh as 1 object, ot by breaking it up into separate parts? My concerns with leaving it as one object are that firstly certain parts of…

I'm a hardsurface artist who has been doing 3D for a little over 3 years now using Blender and Maya, but recently, I'm slowly shifting towards character art and have started with the fundamentals of sculpting a human skull for understanding the…
Hey everyone I've been sculpting a model of an old/aged man which I reckon it's time I post up here for some crits and feedback ^_^. My first attempt at sculpting a character and human anatomy and given the age range I went for it did throw up a few difficulties. I'm going for a 70+ character bulky not necessarily toned.…
Thanks guys for interesting comments . it's of topic but last fall after years of polishing Designer fx maps and creating procedural approaches I suddenly found how actually better my work had been when it all was just manual, taste and intuition driven. Zbrush sculpts and coloring , hand painted textures I did in some…
Hello! This is my first post, I hope this is the right spot to park my thread in. Anyway though, I've been sculpting things for a couple of months now, but the models I have sculpted are lacking alot of detail and realism. I've watched many tutorials, but none seem to help me improve the quality of my sculpts. I have loads…
