Got my sketchbook out yesterday. I haven't been doing physical media for awhile.. I feel pretty rusty..
This page (asside from the ogre dude in the middle) is for a "contest" I will be doing this Saturday with two of my artist pals, Justin Kovac and Adam deGrandis. We'll have all day Saturday to model the head/bust of an "island monster." So I have been trying to nail a concept down. The most awesome thing in the universe that I could think of would be a hydralisk with a purple mohawk...
These were done in OC, the last one has some obvious inspiration from Kekai Kotaki's work. You can find the .wpe files on my site.
That Sandor sketch rocks Josh!
That's really close to how I always pictured him, maybe just a little bit fatter though. Should do one of Gregor... a huge fucker on a pony. FOR TEH WIN!
Your day dreams perhaps? I had a look at some of your drawings on your site and what I want to know is: Did the digital silhouette or the sketch come first?
I drew a pig, and it grew out from there.
I removed the rocket launcher that was strapped to his back, though, it looked almost TOO ridiculous.
I love mspaint. Piggy?
nealb4me: Was that a comment meant for me? if it was then I have to say that the sketching came first. These two are pencil. I've worked in silhoutte in photoshop a bit as well. I like trying out different techniques. The last months have been pure sketching for me though. And yes they are based on a day dream
gavku: thanks man. The first one is a bit more dynamic than the second.
ugh... a 30 inch x 40 inch drawing that should take a month+ and only getting in a couple of 4hr sessions + space case model + bastard of a prof == crazy stressed snemmy...
body shading is faked as well as hair. still need to add the botanical background. it is 10:22am.. this is due at 3pm today. ARGH!!!!! and i have a painting due tomorrow morning at 9:10am that's only 60% done... for the same prof. and im running on less than 4hrs sleep today..
sorry for the file and image size.. PS is being an ass today so it's saved straight from iPhoto
and yeah, the lower half proportions are jacked up.. i cannot work this size with one continuous object.. and im pretty whack at shading..
o.X
btw.. FUCK stupid brittle ass Ebony pencils that break off in sharpeners every 1/8th of an inch for the whole length of the pencil.. -___-
a long time just "read and watcher" on this forum comes to the point where he makes his first post...
which is then about his latest experiments in his sketchbook, he called the "head experiments":

a random sketch... people familiar with DAOC may recognize it.
Peris... is that turtle holding a penis staff?
Still trying to get a hold on a good style.
Nice load Makkon, and awesome volume too.

Let me introduce my first concept art for a game character. It is a lizardman from the world of Warhammer.
I worked abou five days on it with PS.
I hope you will like it!

Regardless, I bring you an army of flying pigs.
