More progress on the car, some areas still need some work, I can see a little pinching here and there but ive mostly been focusing on making sure all the interior lines line up.
Hey that is a very nice looking interior! Do you have any guides for modelling car interiors on SubD? I'm struggling with one too, though I think I may need better reference, as i'm not basing it on any existing interior.
We have Leigh Russell teaching us Maya these weeks!
My concept for the scene and character!
What I modelled this afternoon
We have a budget of 30K faces for the character, and I spent ... 1.3K, which is twice as much as I'd personally use. He needs fluff, of course, but other than that I don't really know how to spend that many quads. It might need more mesh, since we're rendering with mentalray smooth and it does not look good on this mesh - but I don't know if the rendersmooth will be optional.
My First ever zBrsh sculpt weird triclops thing... started off a baboon.. but kinda got carried away with the tools and next thing i know ive got this weird creature am please for my first sculpt! so much more to learn!

Still a WIP currently upping the poly count adding extra detail and then rendering a turntable. Wanting this to be a more abstract sculpture
Mostly done getting the main detail in. I will make another pass on it for tertiary detail like scratches, dents, and decorative engravings. Right now I'm just blocking in the textures and trying to get the material definition right. Pretty pleased with the copper but the brass and iron need a lot of work. Hard to tell how Marmoset's lighting translates to UDK or Cry3. Right now my diffuse texture is really dark but it still shows up in the toolbag as really saturated and bright.
Finishing up the main floor of the "Arrival" level design I was working on. The Stairwell in the previous drawings leads to and ovular inner-city structure.
Aerial cross_section
This is the Dragon Altar vessel. Slight repost, this one has some cross-section goodness though.
Got a greenlight from my director for some more prop ideas I had for his film project. Still in the post blue-sky phase. Like the rest of the props on my folio, this is made from found objects which is why there are different paints, level of corrosion, etc.
Ravenslayer, awesome work on those! I never really watched many Disney films, but my girlfriend, who lived on them as a child, is really enjoying your sculpts.
I am taking a leaf out of Ravenslayer book. Basically trying to get better at making things look like the things they look like.... actually that is what I should name my thread
duncanthats awesome haha . just wondering how you go about sculpting in A-symmetry do you do most of the detail in symmetry then pose it and start with you A-symmetry or do you just go full A-symmetrical fromt he start O.o
Since the dota 2 contest was postponed for another 2 weeks I took a night away from my entry to let my eyes have a chance to see it completely fresh this weekend. Instead I threw something old in marmoset and played around with materials
Hey Splat! After I saw your beautiful squid I couldn't resist making one too XD. It's the Beautiful Squidward Award you can give to people for being obnoxious or too damn beautiful Lol. I like the expression on yours better. It's loftier while mine is kinda ... sad. Oh well!
great work everyone, wish I had time to comment on specific pieces... but I spent it all noodling on a super sloppy rendition of fightpunch's badass sketches :x
some more work on the Driftslut! Test fitting the interior, hopefully will find some time over the weekend to get everything lined up properly and work more on the floorpan.
:poly122: Awesome work guys!
Just trying to get back in the groove, super rusty due to work that isn't character based at the mo( :poly127: ). Dailies from yesterday and today...

Hey scott. What year/model nissan is this? The way the main body crease softens behind the rear wheel arch and then sharpens again into the trunk lid looks a little awkward. Not sure what the real car looks like but right now that line doesn't flow.
Doing some retopo and test bakes with really shitty UVs. Still a ton of work to do, and a lot of stuff I have to fix. The fingers, for example, would just collapse in on themselves if I tried to get them to bend at the moment.
@scotthomer looks great so far. I assume this will be going in cryengine?
@crazyfool that's looking really nice. And for an hour, that's crazy! Is that polypaint or projection? I'm not seeing the likeness, but i suspect i just don't know the person it's supposed to be. Also, why you no post no more!

You don't have a topic for the car, do you?

His hair is pretty natty but since he'll have poly hair I'm not too worried.

I like what I ended up with, but I think I have put too much of my own personality into this guy to call it a success.
Keep up the rads polypeeps and have a good weekend
Cross post from my ArenaNet Thread, just finished the final renders!
