We'll start by just drawing a piece everyday, and it can be digital or traditional. Then we'll start to work in some sweet themes to challenge ourselfs! ex. robots, chicks etc.

1 embed maximum (1 image, or 1 video, or 1 gif, etc.)
Anim GIFs must be less than 2 mb
Externally-hosted images must be less than 500 kb
Uploaded images must not exceed 1000 pixels in any dimension
Don't upload PNG, use JPG
Breaking these rules may cause merciless editing by a Moderator

Andrew - Good Idea to add your stuff here, it will help you feel like you have finished something, keeps the motivation going on your own.

Not much feedback to give other than to look at more references (From real life) while you draw.

ErikNilsson: Thank you for the feedback! I am trying to look at more reference with my pictures, but i'm still developing my "artist eyes", so I have a hard time using reference effectively. Wave Hunter looks really awesome! This picture has a great sense of motion!

Not sure if this is a good place for this, I will take it down if not. Today I tried 100 concept pictures in 20 minutes, thats 12 seconds a drawing. I wanted to try to push myself. I would love to hear any other fun art practices you guys have

Pipotchi: I definitely understand your problem because I can relate to that. One interesting thing you can do is having an inspiration folder(s) and gather things that you like. I've been doing this for years and it's always very refreshing to dive into inspiration folders of past months. Don't limit yourself to drawings or "references" per se, if you find a random picture of a friend in Facebook and you like the expression, save it. It could be handy in the future for maybe a character development. The internet is full of interesting shit, man.

In regards of the picture you shared, yes, I can tell it's pretty bland and common. No harm intended. Try not to stick to common forms or clich

mariomanzanares: Nice render on the face, I like the brushwork!

Andrew: Last one looked more intersting, light, contrast and vaules are always good practise.

When doing thumbnails its all about the design, doing a hundred of them fast wont really help you and is quite destructive. Design is all about thinking things through and feeling them out. Do fewer thumbnails where you actually spend time thinking about them, and do them in full black. Siluetts are king.

Andrew: heh dont worry about posting too much, cant say it for everyone else but I like seeing new things posted here.

Also to add to what Erik said on design, think about shapes (something I still fail at

..) The shapes should stand for something. It should give hints to the characteristics or its personality. Is it a quick rapid fire gun or is it a slow bulky gun that needs charging. Should the shape be blocky, round or pointy. The choice of shapes play a big part in that.

The Shape should be present throughout the designs big form, mid forms and tiny forms. It's hard to do it consciously so dont fret if you dont get it right away.

@mariomanzanares- thanks so much for the advice! no offense taken too. i keep a "cool references" folder but i think i could organize it a lot better as well as be less strict with the stuff i add. also im just finding out about new places to pick up 3d inspiration like artstation etc

drew this weird guy today based on outworld devourer from dota in about 30-40 mins, tried to make him a bit more interesting. i could push it further

Thanks Erik! I wish I had more time to do further renders (that isn't work related) I've learnt a lot (wish I had a cintiq now haha)
