We'll start by just drawing a piece everyday, and it can be digital or traditional. Then we'll start to work in some sweet themes to challenge ourselfs! ex. robots, chicks etc.

Also cheers Erik ! I'm really making an effort to push them .
my suggestion would be, keep the 2Dwaywo-thread, its an accurate name, throw this one away or merge it with the waywo, and add a new sketch/speed painting thread.
if im not hearing any loud suggestions soon, im going to suggest it to a mod.
ideally, the 2d sketchbooks would be a subforum for this one aswell. the sketchbook forum get way to little trafic.
you could make a thread on that topic yourself, and if its popular, maybe it gets stickied. i would defenatly be down to partake in stuff like that!
If it's >2 hours in time it goes in what are you working on. If it's less it goes in here.
I say shoot a mod a message .
Stickadtroja - Agreed, I coulp put a thread up but I dont feel like comming up with a theme every week, altough now and then would be ok, maybe have a rotating schedule or something? Or some kind of automated program. Il think about it.
I recommend just starting a theme thread by anyone's initiative with the addition of "open thread" in the title. No deadlines so any new member months or years from now can just bump it with their contributions. No rules either would be nice. Keep it low maintenance. You like the theme just do your art and post it.
Making weekly challenges, my opinion, you'll need a mod or volunteer to work it (promote, curate, critique, etc.) It could be a thankless role with the added burden that whoever's "in-charge" is under pressure to commit time and energy.
in my experience, the lesser amount of rules, the lower amount of activity for things like these. putting time limits and theme restrictions makes it more apealing to me, if im just doing sketches i might aswell put it in the waywo or sketch thread. just my opnion, but for me its like a sport or workout pass. a clear goal and rules makes me push myself way harder.
Haven't painted in so long and needed to scratch that itch. (just watched the blade trilogy and underworld lol)
I always felt that the sketch thread was more like images you make just for the heck of it and the waywo was more oriented to wips for full illustrations. Of course not everyone follows that philosophy but it would be a shame to throw away this thread.
Also nice to see you posting again Erik.
And yes, I can see both of your points (Stickadtroja - Magic suger) But I think Ima have to go with Mr StickadTrƶja here :P
Anyway, I also like the challenge and the deadline. I would love for there to be a thread like: "Weekly 2D Design Challenge" or: "Weekly Concept Art Challenge" or something. It could be a thread focused on design and concept art rather than 3 week renderings. Every monday there is a theme posted etc etc.
Who knows? Maybe I will take it upon myself to start such a thread during the Hollidays if enough people are interested.
we'll see!
Did some more stuff on this during my lunch, still struggling a bit with the face design but I think I have a good plan now for next time.
Agree with Ben and Daew, this is a nice thread
Here's some speed sketching from me, no real direction with these except the Chatterer one.
Been really inspired by little environment cutout sketches lately.
The second one was from an aquarium, just toyed around with it.
~20 min each.
Would love to see a life cycle gif. Where it starts off as an egg grows up and then ends up as a skeleton. While stil keeping that sketchy feel in the beginning.
But that's just me fantasizing :P no pressure.
I agree on this one too, just rename this thread to "speedpaint - less than 2h" something suggestive for newcomers.
And idea for challenges is sweet! can be very casual and irregular. Just a bunch of ideas/topics not restricted to any time limit. Personally when I'm bored I just want to paint something for pure fun. Thread with bunch of challenges would suit me just fine.
~3h handsomeness study, too long for speed paint, but posting without drawings seems wrong
so lemme show you some design tryouts (also if anyone is familiar with the binding of isaac)
please give whatever criticism you have !

i like the face!
graze: looks nice! what happened to the enslaved robot nomads you did before? you know, the ones with dwarfs living on them? that concept was so cool! i was so impressed by that, i really hope you make a game of it or something!
lephenix: looks pretty scary, but i think you can push the colours more.
sketch from me;
i tried to make it more sympathic looking, came of more grotesque than i intended.
this is a skin concept for Fiora from League Iām working on, Samurai or Sakura Fiora:
