Trying a new approach for lowpoly diffuse only texturing. I'm going to sculpt out a highly detailed model, then retopo it with a sub 2k mesh and then bake out occlusion, cavity, etc, and use those as a base for my texture.
Here is what I have so far. I am going to give him a big nasty scar across his face that continues down his chest, and perhaps some more clothing. Bandana, eyepatch, i dunno. I intended for him to be a pirate but he could still become anything at this point. I'm open to suggestions.
@Stoop_Kid: looks pretty good so far but I think for hard surface stuff you could push some more sharp edges. Also, some pits could be worked into the design more because they just seem to be floating pieces of geometry.
thanks! I will adjust the saturation, but I will keep abit of the brown. going for a little more Tatooine colors but I will try to bleach the more exposed parts of the rock
blockout of the skeletal battle rifle i posted earlier. challenging not to start greebling everything or jumping right into the high poly, but i think the design is helped by it.
@daphz diggin this sculpt the fingers/knuckles look a bit too blocky tho! @dannedadon sick work, the hair looks kinda weird but im guessing it will be planes eventually
trying to make some rocks for an environment project, current progress
@poffington: yeah man you caught me! ahahahaha @tokusei: thanks man, i'll look into it. I was trying to go for a shaved stylized look. maybe its a bit too much
Worked on that rock a bit more and got a better render of it. Mostly happy with it now. Going to start working on some more forms and start fleshing out the scene with them.
So I went back to the drawing board on some new heads, to try and find a decent base scale/shape etc, after some of the previous comments. This is where I'm at so far:
Playing around with Max and CryENGINE.
No normal and spec map yet. I will model a bridge and a few building to fill up the background. Long way to go :poly142:
Work in progress shots of my Alien esque scene I'm doing to find work with.
The scene will have an animated siren light, hence the two shots. Still getting a lot of elements down but wanted to show it.
Taken from Maya's view port with some Photoshop post processing. Will probably get it into UDK.

I don't think I nailed it but it's not that bad.

Nice stuff as always! You'r going to build a car?
Liking this one, it's just that he's ripped in the sides and back but fat in the front which is odd.
