high-poly beauty shot of my RGS-50M...just finished baking it and now gonna start texturing...thinkin on wether i should go with a unique color pallete with various decals and designs or go the realistic standard approach.....comments and critique are 100% welcome
Character I did for class, I don't normally do characters and haven't done a full one from start to finish in about 2 years now and I must say, it was pretty fun. I am hoping to come back to it during spring break to change a few things but I'm proud of what I got with the time I had.
I really dig the gauntlets of that fellow, itismario! To me they stand out the most in the design, containing so much volume. They look heavy - do you think you will give the character a bit hunched posture later?
Here a small preview of something I am working on at the moment, it's a quite low-poly scene (currently 709 polys for the stuff below) with focus on hand-painted textures, some of which are painted on unique UV maps, others are tileables / maps I can recycle between different objects. Textures, mapping and prop placement are works in progress. I'll propably add more props to the scene as I think it feels a bit too empty around the platform and I am growing fond of the little character. He calls for a cute home setting! :poly139:
OK, I think I have sufficiently over sculpted this into noise city, so next step will be to get some experience with ZBrush poly painting and see if I can a texture going...
WarrenMarshall: I like the head of the hammer a lot, but I'm not a fan of the handle, it looks messy.. I want to see more detail there.. Keep it up though!
-Disting; loving your ninja but hex pattern on boobs looks a bit out of place since it's the only place it's used.
-kbrom; what was the time limit? Looks good!
-Allan; that's sweet... Wouldn't mind having that on a wall at home
-Ack; coool
-Bad Boy Grunt; Legs look like they need to be wider, maybe just scale up the whole lower body?
-itismario; that looks really cool, like arabic-robot crosed with a little bit of prince of persia style.
Worked on my spaceship some more. Cockpit area not done yet...

I agree. I was trying to avoid doing that but thanks for calling me out. I'll work on it.
Hi all!.. im stuck. did a consept for a weapon in a project im in and i cant decide which colour to use. What do you think? 1,2,3,4? or do you know some better combination mabye ?
This weapon will be use in a Deus X "lookALike" sci fi enviorment, and will be used to kill zombies
Superfail, I prefer #2, and if it's gonna be a zombie-bustin' mission, feel free to add some blood splats, and signs of "usage". Also, #4 seems a bit covert, in terms of color.
Hey guys here is just a little something I am working on the side, while I am working on my environment =D
This looks great but I can't help but dislike the writing on the gun. It really looks like you just used the brush tool and wrote it on. How would you do this in real life? Would it be painted on with a brush then it needs some texture, maybe some spatters or missteps from doing it by hand. Or would it be dug into with a blade with the metal scraped off? The gun itself looks awesome but that writing is killing me. There was a really awesome Brink art dump that I would look at for ideas.
Superfail, I like the 3rd and 4th the most, to me they look most deadly. The sand / cream colour variations seem more plastic in comparison. Will the weapon be presented from a 1st person view?
@itsmario, I love the look of your character. I'd like to learn to handpaint like that someday.
Here is the character I've been working on, Kaneda from Akira reinterpreted. This was my first ever real clay render, just did it to test presentation and zbrush to maya, as I haven't worked in Maya in ages.
Crits and comments appreciated. Sorry if I butchered everyones favorite Akira character.
Thanks for The tip guys. I took your advice and made a mix of them. this is how it turned out. still work in progres but now i have carbon fiber and ... of course.. a touch screan on the side. ITS SO SCI FI!
That's awesome Superfail! I could imagine a medium-speed fire rate with medium high power with a bass like "doom/oomph" of a sound from that thing. I also chuckled at the white label.
itismario - Looking great so far! The concept is awesome so you should have some fun making it.
ZeroCartin - I like your birdman
Ack Master - Awesome, would love to see a grittier TF2
Looking for some final crits before I go ahead and finish this guy.
Sukotto: Howdy hoo, dinoboxer! I like the top-heavy stylization of the model. I think his facial hair is a little hard to distinguish against the dark blue skin. Maybe turning the dark brown hair brighter or another colour would help clarify the features? :-)
So many great artists here! For some time I've been lurking around. Though mainly I am 2d artist, I tend to practice 3d from time to time, especially when I had model on the job.
So I'll start to post some of my 3d stuff, for the sake of hints, tips and comments.
This is the sculpt, I'm doing basing on another artist's concept, preparing for 3d print, still wip.
