I´m starting to work on a hippopotamus caracter. The main goal is to learn more about modelling/texturing/rigging techniques i´m wishing to learn.
The idea as of now (it´s continuously changing) is the simple hippo with a feathered colleague turning a simple crank contraption to shoot soap bubbles (the liquid soap would be inside the unfinished containers by the sides of the hippo)
In the end hopefully it may be integrated into a simple game

I haven't done scifi in ages. did this in about 6 hours using 2 512's. I know its not the greatest, just getting some practice under my belt - learning ndo2 a bit better and all that good stuff :P
Hey Guys, revisiting this guy to try and learn some skin rendering techniques, not really game art per-say, working on a small facial rig for it as well. Still need to plug in specular/reflections going to darken him a lot more, and add more freckles like on chimps, also obviously the eyes, and his accessories, piercings, necklace. going to start his own thread soon, let me know what you guys think!
Nick Carver - Awesome as always. I don't think this one reads as well as your others though. The plane kinda gets lost on the noisy background, could just be me though.

Love the 'character' that this character has to it. Keen to see more!
Fightpunch your mech designs are out of this world. Just beautiful. Do you also coneptualize them or are you using Feng or some other leet designer's drawings as a guide? If so, please share, because it's very inspirational.
And the final day of my Dynamesh Boolean playing around. The top frame is the reference I used. I didn't have time to fully nail it but I'm happy with what I learned so far...
@zxcman
love what you are doing there
just the neon magenta is bothering me
not only the type of color but its also to saturated for a light.
change it to some blue and it will look better imo

I know everyone's sick of seeing these.. but I started her way back in july before moving to a new city and didn't get back to working on her until last week, when I finally got settled and back to some semblance of my usual art routine. Figured I may as well finish her! Started textures on friday -- still lots to do! Comments/crits welcome here!

Thanks man. I design everything myself, I'm a concept artist not a 3d guy, I just like messing around in sketchup
I'm currently a student in Qantm Melbourne studying a Bachelor of Interactive Entertain with a major in animation and I'm nearing the second year of my studies. 3D art is my main passion (specifically within games) and I'm looking to improve my skills.
This trimester is kind of intense for me with all the assignment, but hopefully I'll be able to update this thread every now and then.
I would love critique/feedback but comments (whether they be positive or negative) are also welcome :poly122:
I'll start this thread with a sculpt I made recently for my Advance 3D Animation subject
We have to model a low poly character from an existing toy we could get our hands on. I decided on buying a Thane figurine
@Donovanyoung- Seeing this outside the hangout, Im really appreciating the softer forms you put into his face. Also he's ugly. @Ablaine- Really good start on the textures. Maybe a bit more contrast between the hair and the face/skin?
Callin it done on the sculpt. The chains will be linked together in the final piece and connected to another character.

this might just be the first item I buy off the workshop once you release it such a great design
@HntrLuc You totally need to make this guy run like Bunchies. Click the link to see him run: http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/bunchies_trans.gif
