Awesome work, man! I wonder if it would be possible to get some variation in the amount and color of the bloom from the lit windows? Looks great though.
Great stuff in here! This is my first time posting anything here, kinda nervous. Anyway, I recently finished up this environment thingy. There's lots of stuff I'd want to keep working on, but I had to move on unfortunately...
I may go back to it at some point, so any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up going with a modular approach. -artquest: I like the idea of cutting out the boards like you illustrated, however i'm trying to stick close to the concept. Anyone recognize the environment?

I could probably do that. I'm thinking of maybe using vertex colors to vary the colour/intensity of them, unless someone has a better idea.
Oh and by the way @TeriyakiStyle, I took your advice and sorted out the bloom. Thanks!

Been working on this for a while. Now I finally have a set together that can be used to build a basic dungeon level from modules in unity.
I will be updating it with new modules as I complete them... like more pillars and arch ways, walls and doors and other decorative items etc. C&C welcome!

I don't recognize the environment But I could see this approach being used IRL for a very fancy/high cost building. Since they would be cutting each wood plank into a slight trapezoid shape to get the effect shown in your image it's still believable, just feels like you would only do this for something commissioned by a very rich king. That said... I like the way it looks so far!
After playing Dead Island I decided to try to do some weapons in the style of the game, starting with something simple I went for a baseball bat. Still work in progress. Crits welcome!
hi ! I'm new around, i used to come and pimp at all the awesome works we can find for ages now, and never had the guts to show my own work ;s
So here we are, i'm aiming at a short movie project using low poly characters... And JEd-8 is the main hero.
sorry for my poor english.
If you want to see more of him you can go to my blog. It's mainly for my 3d work but it happens that there is some 3d too ^^
hey guys ! started to work on the difuse/spec, would looove to have some crits plz!
fred2303 that is looking great, I would personally suggest dropping the brightness significantly on all the metallic parts and letting the specular do the work instead!
Hi guys, first time posting stuff on THE polycount
I must say, it's a pleasure to see this lot of daily inspiration, and all the masters who post in !
Currently working on the SHOWDOWN contest by ARTBYPAPERCUT, here is some WIP of my character.
Sauron that chicken thing looks great, reminds me of the mutants from Time Splitters Future Perfect
I've been working on this for the last few days, it's kind of spawned from my last wip which I tried working with for a few weeks but there was simply too much wrong with it for me to take it much further. This still very earlly on; lots of cloth folds yet to sculpt.
monkey need bigger image but I'm not sure if you can see all those bones on an old person unless they are not eating? I don't have any old people reference so I can't really say for sure but for sure bigger image.

Working on an Ultralisk from SC2. Trying to combine some concept art, with some realistic anatomy, and the in game model. Still at the primary and secondary form for most of it.
Great work dan, but maybe you'd want to shadow those feet a little. I think the main focus is the head but apart from the horns it seems darker and my eyes keeps on getting back to that shinyness on his feet.
Dan! - nice work! I think this would look awesome with some stronger lighting. I'm not sure if you're looking for crits at this point, but I couldn't help myself and did a paintover to illustrate https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1427110/dan_po.gif
I wanna finish this off soon so I can jump into the Dota 2 comp. Finished the high poly and retopo as well as an initial bake. Still looking for crits though, as always.
We are learning Maya at school!! So the first tasks are basically to dick around and learn things, and we're making small environments.. naturally I'm making a robot tree.
I could probably get used to maya, s'long as I can export to max when I need to do serious polygon work ehehehehe
Alemja: Nice start on your ANet character test. I'm no character artist, but just things I've observed with your model: Details are coming along, but some of it needs work; the fold work doesn't seem to read right (sock-leggings area, jacket folds around the arms), the fur needs detailing. Also, get some more reference of how female characters physically look in GW2, they seem skinny and lanky compared to yours (she seems short and stocky). Nothing wrong with short and stocky gals, but you may want to cater your test to mirror the GW2 art style and asthetic.
DavidBrumbley: Really digging that outdoor jungle area. Good job on the lighting, nice foliage/tree assets, and from what I can see your textures look great. If anything, maybe the water could use a little more texture.
Lonewolf: I love it, great mech! So much awesome detail, excellent grunge distribution. I think the glass for the cockpit could use a little grunge, hard to see if there is any from the screenshot. I can't wait to play Hawken!
I was looking at some old projects I never completed and decided that I would go trough the whole file and complete all of my unfinished projects.
this concept^ -_- (my old work)
I started this model and never got pass the initial "blocking" where you just shape the form, so yesterday I sculpted the face of the model and finger, pants, etc.
Crits and comments welcome! And yes I know the shoes are horrible (its sculptris what can you do)
PS - no Halloween contest this year? I would love to enter this if I finish it in time
hi folks just posting my WIP, this one is based on Nick Carver's concept- I always been inspired with his work. So I've decided to make a quick model on his Harvesting Unit concept, still rough but getting close

WTF! hahahah!
