Still WIP. Need to add all the nice little details (weld seams, bolts, text, etc.), and the little rectangles on his cheeks were meshes built into the train IMM in ZBrush. I think I'm getting the hang of the hard-surface ZBrush stuff.

really hard to read what type of material that is, my suggestion is figure that out first. if it's some type of metal, research that... and you could also get away with using a lot more polys. this thing is huge.
Hi everyone! I'm new to the game industry and I'm looking to improve my 3D skills so any feedback will be much appreciated. This is my try on a character from Japanese manga. He has 984 tris and his sword has 128 tris. Texture for character: 512x512, sword texture: 512x256 + alpha. He's intended for PSP spesification and I'm planning to animate him later. Thanks for the crit. I think I may have the metal look down now, of course it could use some adjusting but its reading much more like metal now.

A pedestal I am working on, for the woman character I have been working on. I'm debating on if I should have the fire hydrant and the light post next to each other or just take one of then out. What do you guys thing?
Tried my hand at painting some dirt and grass textures last night. 512x512. Looked at them too long to know how well they actually turned out. I guess I will know when I look at them again in a few weeks . Will also need to test how well they work with some of the other assets I have been building. Feedback welcome!

They look great, very painterly yet natural feel to them. Perhaps a bit low-contrast, but that really depends on the target style.
Are they 5 variations or are you blending between grass and dirt with a shader?

Still pretty rough and early, topology needs a lot of work. There are so many artists here who do amazing female characters so I'd love some pointers. I made a thread for her yonder.
Good luck, bro. The woman design reminds me of the ol' Ragnarok online design. I demo'ed the beginning of the gal at the Paris Games Week 2012 and damn, she's tedious. But damn worthy !
FingusThanks man! Yeah, looking at them now I think they could use a touch of contrast. Will need to see once I have the whole scene done how it all comes together. No shader blending, just Photoshop .
I like the new big booty direction cg girls are going these days. I have been modeling my girls with WAAAYYY too big a booty since the beginning but now they don't look so out of place anymore XD.
About the topology perhaps just one quick note:
This is not your model, it was a feedback paint over I made a while back on another model, just too lazy to do it again... hope I won't get in trouble for posting it here . It's basically about the mouth corners. I know you are not trying to do a realistic face but this will work for cartoon characters also.
Started working on a new model, this time it will be a Willeys MB jeep Almost finsihed working on the low poly base model. Allready made some high poly parts, but I will post them as soon as it looks like something..
@ Lextripper -- I think it reminds you of the arenanet challenge ... but there are arguably no copied elements in eazy's concept. They look like they are from the same universe for sure ... and you could even hotswap one costume for the other due to body types, but the elements that make the costumes are very different.
EDIT -- my bust, didn't realize it was the same concept artist :P They are still different costumes tho

The area is still in greybox/blockout stages atm, but I fancied working on some hi-res stuff whilst I mulled over the direction of the new area.
