Progress so far on this Gambit model I started a few weeks ago
I took a few very small liberties to try and make it a bit more modern just with design of how the metal parts look and his hair. But other than that I tried to stay true to the comics. I still need to do the details in ears, hands, belt and finish up his boots then on to retop then texturing and rigging. cheers!
ChaosBlade I love the design - I think you can take the texture much further. Darkening the lower parts slightly will add weight. Also needs Ambient occlusion type shadowing in a lot of places, shoulder etc.
I don't think you should ever present with a black or white background - gray gradient for starters will help you see the model better.
There doesn't seem to be much surface variation in the skin. It's a very uniform ochre puddy feeling, I think having some visual indicators that tell the viewer this is soft flesh - this is a hard beak - these are cartilage filled ears etc. is needed.
Design wise you might want to add more red in places for balance. Red pattern and piping can really define the shape for the viewer.
Also since he's reptilian you have an opportunity there to do anything you want with body pattern etc, this can help define the shapes even more.
I really like it, especially the head shape I just think you can pop it a little more.
Fast crappy PO:
Thanks so much for the paint over TeriyakiStyle! It looks way better with your changes! Didn't even think to give him skin patterning.
My progress so far on this gambit model i started a few weeks ago. Still have to finish his ears, belt, hands but this is where i am right now.
Also have been recording the entire process along the way. Here is a timelapse of part 1. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oAPadEl_K4"]Modeling Gambit Timelapse- Part 1 - YouTube[/ame]
More videos coming in the next few days. Cheers!
I started this gambit model a few weeks ago. I only have his belt, ears and hands to finish up then I'm planning on a retop/unwrap/texture.
I also put up a timelapse video of the first part of this model. I have been recording everything and will be updating in the next few weeks so you can see my full process.
I'm sculpting my horse for fun, I plan on getting all Vray with it and add some fur later on but for now he's just an untextured sculpture. kinda cool though
Pardon if a tech-artist posts non-technical work
Started working on this recently in my spare time. Will be improving the ammo-feed layout, and changing the wheel design, etc.
Will eventually be some form of little bot/AI controlled drone.
Comments and suggestions appreciated
UDK Environment "Chemical Plant", Storage and Logistics Wing Level 01.
All parts (Textures/Materials,Props) work in progress
(~30% total, ~60% for the area on the Screens, still a long way to go, textures, props all custom made)
Last couple of pages are chuck filled with good art, lets keep this momentum going @Ravenslayer- lol, I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your value study, besides it being awesome...I used charlize theron as a guide for sculpting the face.
Finalizing the texturing of the body. A good buddy of mine gave me the best idea....make the skin around the opening look infected
I should have this 100% done by tomorrow night
Had to redo the textures on my 3D motive zed bot challenge, lost them somehow, also decided to give him a simple rig and animation over the weekend. Trying to get him ready for a portfolio update. Amazing stuff on here as always!
Makkon: WOW really love that song! Amazing work... I'm about to listen to it again.
Ahh a nice relaxing weekend to chill and concept up some random stuff... Here's a Psionic Knight I did for fun, just cuz I wanted to do a sci fi themed knight character . His plume is made of strands of electronic cords that take in information about his surroundings. If any of the cords are ever cut they simply regrow or fuse back together... after all it's the future, he's got to have nano-tech.

Nice bake, wires?
Sure thing. Still a bit WIP since the loops aren't very evenly spaced and it needs some reducing.
Beautiful!
Nice work. It would be nice that you post hires picture because I can not see some details.
