heh. good question. and nah. there's very little ( at best ) practical application for this stuff. i'm just in it for the art. the community. getting stoked on ideas / concepts and sharing amongst the wicked talent like we have here at PC
Dan! thank you. that is about as pure a compliment as a guy could get
Hugh. was a totally legit question a. i spam the fuck outta these boards with all my derps it's fair enough that one might ask : ' what the fuck are you doing !? '
so. yeah. just making shapes. tryin' to get the ideas out as quick as possible. hope they don't look like too much balls and. . . rinse _ repeat
Still seems like his head snap is off though. His body snaps into position like he is alerted, then his head snaps up like he was just alerted. If anything I'd say the head needs to snap up, recognize a threat then snap his body into position.
Compared to some of the stuff in this thread, i'm almost embarrassed to show off my work.
Right now, i'm trying to get into designing stylised/toon/painterly shaders in UDK. I have experience with developing toon shaders for Daz Studio 4 (my Visual Style shaders on the Daz 3D store proved quite popular), so for my first experiment I attempted to recreate my Visual Style shader within UDK. It's my first time messing around with custom lighting and ramp shaders, but I managed to get something close.
The head mesh in the video is modelled by myself, from an abandoned character modelling project. I used it simply because it's the only UDK friendly mesh I have on me.
Just something I've been working on over the last week and a bit - based on a concept from Deus Ex - HR . Still lots of placeholder textures and props (look at them repeating banners/adverts! )... but I should start replacing those soon . Lots to do still so hoping to get through my task list soon so I can start finalising work.
The cyber place.... lol
Make it the cyber police then it would be funny, if not, that's a lame name and sounds cheesy.
All the love for this project. Wish more games follow this style.
Hey man, I didn't know you were on Polycount? Giuseppe from Simian Squared here. As I said before, we're extremely honoured that you made this! It's awesome. In particular I really dig your colouring technique, its hard brush at full opacity but you still manage to blend really well. Very cool.
Havnt posted here in a long time, but here is something i have been working on, still got some minor polish to do and some fixes i want to get in, but most of it is there.
Its based on a concept art i dug out in my old inspirationsfolder, but i cant find the name of the creator.
quick lighting, and post processing update. still wip
I really love this - but the one thing that jumps out is the default UDK sky (and the abundance of clouds in the desert :P).
Get yourself a nice custom blue sky and you'll be unstoppable!
Working on my first sculpt with Mudbox. Never sculpting before, go easy on me .
And lately working on this guy
Going to do Max Payne 3 but with the original Max "Constipated" Payne face.:poly136:
For your first sculpt it came out good, I would make sure you are checking your proportions and constantly moving around your sculpt. The front of the face looks a bit flat. Just keep at it!

I really like that, I like the beard! I just started on my first bust also (only doodled) in Sculptris, I haven't fully figured out brushes just yet but want to make sure I get my own proportions right too, I think this is my favorite part of 3D work so far ^^
Here's my supposed-to-be-Nubian-Goddess-turned-into-Buddha bust x_X Still in progress as I learn more ways to do the lips, do I sculpt eyes in or do I add new spheres etc, still figuring it out as I go.
I'm still doing concrete decal tests.. I got a pretty good picture of what I need to do for the best result (not saying this is perfect), still thinking of doing a tutorial for this..

Careful, they can backtrace you. Don't goof.
I can do that, but i got to finish it first, not much left,
It needs some polish and something to add a little extra to the scene.

Currently 2744 tris. Needs hands, clothes, and hair....
Only my second model. I wish I could accept the fact that it won't be perfect and finish it already.

From what I know, he exports his models from Zbrush and renders into Maya, using Maya Vector. But, he can offer better feedback than me
EDIT: Here an explanation he posted some time ago:

Struggling.
I'm still doing concepts for my scene but I wanted to test out my pipeline to see how I'm going to build everything when I'm done.
