I couldn't find an open thread on this, but this one came as somewhat of a surprise to me. Especially considering the main character looks just like Nathan Drake + 10 years. I am looking forward to a great co-op game though!
The idea of those zombies is based on cordyceps fungus, when I first saw that shit it left me with jaw dropped. Nature is incredible. And FUCKING creepy.
It's not Ellen Page, just a look and sound-a-like. It's the voice actress who does the sister in Ben Ten... not that I'd know what that is or watch it every day while eating breakfast.
Yeah, I'd almost buy a PS3 for this game... but not too sure. I'm not even sure I want to buy another console again. I don't use my 360 enough game wise. I only really use it for Netflix/Hulu.

I see no problem here.
I'm on the fence about this one. I'm getting a bit tired of zombies and post-apoc stuff. But Naughty Dog brings such a high level of polish they could probably take the most cliche thing in the world and make it great.
Looks amazing, technically stunning and the cinematography was outstanding. They really know how to pull me in and keep me interested even with something that feels very very familiar.
Even if they seem to retread tires I thought where bald and sell them back to me, I'll probably still enjoy the ride because they are really good at their craft.
I think people get too much tunnelvision when they see "zombie" and completely forget how awesome the walking dead has managed to be even though its completely zombie-themed.
Eld, I do agree with you in part. First of all, it is WAY to early to be drawing any conclusions to this game, simply because they really havent shown us ANYTHING. Just that there are zombies / infected. Even though i KNOW most of naughty dog is running around screaming THEY ARENT ZOMBIES, i garentee every person in that office has slipped up and called them zombies.
But yes, I am one that isn't interested in this because it has zombies, but I am also someone who absolutely LOVES the walking dead. But there is a slight difference I think. From what we`ve seen, zombies are going to be a major part in this game, where as the walking dead has zombies in it, yes, but by no means is that show ABOUT zombies. Plus, the walking dead is pretty ground breaking when it comes to zombie TV. It just hasnt been done much, at least not main stream, on tv. Zombie games, on the other hand, have been done to the tits.
haha its awesome reading all these speculations and such. really cool seeing everyones differing views and what parts people focus on from the trailer and what they think the game is about. pretty neat
My guess... There is very little actual combat. its all about being quiet because the infected cant hear. More of a horror survival. thats just my guess based off the gun click in the trailer, and knowing what i know about the fungus.
I'm pretty excited about this mainly because it looks like you will have to deal not just zombies, but also with other people in the same boat as you. Morals and rules are great but when society dies people are going to look out for themselves. If you've read "The Walking Dead" and seen the governor you have a good idea of the type of person I mean. There's nothing to say there is or isn't something like this but I really hope there is something to break up "oh look, another zombie."
There's an awful lot of extrapolation going on here based on an early pre-rendered trailer. Do you remember the last time this happened? A certain game trailer also involving zombies that played out artfully in reverse and got people a-talking? Remember how that one turned out?

You're just having the time of your life watching us guess what the game is about aren't you?:)
I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been some kind of Alan Wake-like game where you use the Move as a flashlight already.
Echochrome 2 did it, and it played fairly well. Obviously it didn't troll the 3d artists as much as Echochrome 1's brutal murder of perspective (goddamn impossible shapes), and it was launched close to the Move, so it didn't get as much attention as it should have.
Mutants imply genetic changes or defects which it is not, it's basically fungi growth spreading the right kind of chemicals to the hosts brain, enough to set them into a zombie state to do whatever basic thing the fungi needs out of it.
In the case of cordyceps it makes the creature climb up as far as it can, where it will die and the spreading of spores can begin.
Which makes me think of another thing, they are most likely immune, as spores spread really easily.
Regardless, I don't think we should be afraid to call it a zombie game, nor should naughty dog, I consider the road a post-apocalyptic movie even when it's far away from being mad max.
Just say it's a zombie game focused on survival and character, embrace the genre and help make it something better instead of trying to wipe it off.

In case he never comes back.
Yeah, the trailer looks good, but 'being alone in a zombie world' type game is being done and this looks like another.
the girl sounds like Ellen Page...
I just assumed/hoped it was ellen page ( doing the acting )
i want this on pc...

And in a few years time, if it's great game, it will get a PC port ;P
With a NDI game? Yeah... good luck with that, NDI = Sony.
Yeh, because sony and naughty dog will really need those extra sales that only the pc market can give..........
@mLichy: Same here. Think the last game I played on my PS3 was Uncharted 2 i think. Mostly a PC gamer.
Any day now for Brutal Legend and Red Dead Redemption then?
Visually... looks AMAZING. Kudos there, ND. but the idea? big MEH. Can we move past war and zombie games please?
I thought I was kidding....
I see no problem here.

Apparently not.
As wikipedia would say on cordyceps:
It's what you do with it, not what it is.

You heard it here first folks!!!
You don't know Naughty Dog well do you?

I think fatal frame 4 for the wii had flashlight and camera movement via the wii-mote.

So looking forward to this, the trailer and concept art looks amazing.

The trailer is not prerendered.
