Better, but it still detracts a whole lot from your work.
First impression is: "Oh thats clever, the images looks layered." and not "Holy shit those guns are hawt!"
Also, the more you do to dress up your typography, the more it will be obscured. For example with your wolf graphic in the logo, it is fighting with the drop-shadow for attention and the smaller you have made the drop-shadow, the clearer it becomes. That poses a design question:
Does the drop-shadow serve a function? Yes it enhances contrast between typography and the background
That leaves two immediate alternative design choices, either some other kind of border or increase the contrast between the typography colour and the background colour. I personally prefer to use the most efficient solution as the rule, although flourishes certainly has a place as a compositional tool.
It all comes down to the phrase "form follows function". Your portfolios function should be to sell your abilities as a badass hardsurface artist, not to serve as a catalouge for photoshop layer effects.
still pretty distracting in my opinion. the square non-overlapping boxes are so much clearer and you have no reason to take peoples attention away from the art ;p
Sorry if someone asked this already, but for your text and engravings, is it just floating geo, or do you do it in zbrush then decimate the mesh and bring it back in? Thanks in advance
You would probably be better off capping those holes in that scope mount, unless you plan to model the holes in the low too, cuz you know, bake errors etc.

even though i modeled the M4 both sides i think ill go only with one side on the low poly (FPV optimized)
right side will be flat, that way i can use 10k polys on one side and hope it will be all there

I would argue against that for a few reasons. I don't think many games do that any more due to animations, guns moving in view, etc. More impressive having both sides and not just the one visible at all times (imo)
One thing is that scope mechanism has tons of tiny, high-freq details and instantly becomes focal point of the whole piece. If it's intentional it's okay, but if not it might be good idea to add some mods or attachments of similar detail level on hand guard (or other part) as well (flashlight for example), so that it's more balanced.
Since you're really detailing this, and modeling pretty damn accurate, I thought I'd show you some places that could use some adjusting/edits
(sorry the image is a mess)
-The main fixes are stuff like the shape/silhouette of the lower receiver, such as the extension plate on the back. It has a different shape than the receiver itself... The edges highlighted in red show the difference. :P
-The edge that is highlighted in purple could be fixed really easily.
-The extrusion on the upper receiver circled in orange could use some work. Yours shows it having a big slant to it. It should be basically a box, then beveled. (fun fact: that 'extrusion' is actually there so when the bolt turns, the cam pin doesn't collide with the inside of the upper receiver!)
-The bolt catch paddle could be more round/circular
-interesting shape in the charging handle highlighted in green.
Just thought I'd give my thoughts, I'm pretty obsessed with the AR15 platform

Do the whole gun. Don't sell it short.
well since its a portfolio piece and i dont have restrictions, i might do the whole gun
nice hand guard and place for a lot of attachement. this gun is the TTR(tactical target rifle) from PARA-ORDANCE!!!
But the main mechanism is not the one from the M4 but more likee the one in the AK47. This mecanism allow a folding stock!
not exactly the same one, what made me do this is the larue tactical wallpapers,
they have really cool stuff. but thanx for the website, gonna check it out and see what i can put on the front

I've always associated your nick with guns whenever I see it pop-up. I'm now reminded why
Edit: Oops, typo fixed.
The text and logos are temp bump maps
Arts dope though
Work
Gonna have to check it soon

Larue rail and tangodown covers are on.. still pretty boring front

There are lots of type and lengths, i went for the shortest one (larue 7.0) , i think its better technically/visual wise
thank you, glad u guys like it
