More Zbrush practice.. anyone know if you can get Zbrush to display *all* the matcaps inside the folder? Loading them each individually is driving me nuts.
Thanks guys!
Dado: I'd love to focus on the weirder stuff (Ferg's art gives my brain a boner!), but I feel like I'm wasting time I should be spending on 'boring' portfolio stuff given how slow the job-search is going.
@ JFletcher: I would like to see her in 3D. Looks cute.
@ [SF]Three9: hahahaha thanks. maybe one day. but I have been carried away with a "Gotham city imposters" version of Batgirl. I don't make too many girls so I am taking a leaf out of Hazardous's book and getting my practice on.
@ Maph: Thanks mr . No concept just noodeling around.
@ ENODMI: Thanks, I really dig your little critter . He reminds me of something I have never seen before (Which is the way I like my 3D) Looks awesome.
Here's some WIP on ol' eddy j. So far I just laid down some preliminary polypaint stuff, but i really need to go back and add more contrast in the face. The helmet just has basic colors as stand-ins so it doesn't look out of place. thanks guys.

@whats_true - I made it myself. Modelled it in 3D then exported to a papercraft program and unfolded it there. If I can figure out a place to host the files I'll make it available to download if you like.
Leading a little group project for a class, just making an environment art piece. Boomz, Grimm_Wrecking and Neolight are also involved [they don't go to SCAD btw], along with a couple other people not on PC. Here's what we have so far, still needs a ton of work, though not everything we have in the level is in that shot. Here's our development blog for more info on the project and our group.
Whens the hand in for it? At the moment i am not sure where the focal point is the robots look like they are looking for something/found something some indication of what they are doing would be nice!
Could you all critique my reel? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
think you could do a lot more work on your textures to try to bring some life into them.
and in the reel i don't like the dedicated title screens just waste of time, you should just overlay the names of scenes assets in the corner of the vid.
and most people who have to look at portfolio's don't usually like reels, since it eats away at time, which is why a lot of portfolios forgo reels and slideshows in favor of just a site full if images that people can quickly scroll threw and stop at anything that catches there eye.
though for some schools a reel is a requirement as part of your curse outline.
@gauss Damn, that's awesome, lots of personality on her face. Hip seems a little small though, I'd crank it up a notch, make her a tad more curvy but then again I'm brazilian so I have a thing for big asses. :T

Get to the art faster, I had to wait 20 seconds before it got to any art. And then, all we saw was the concept art. We had to wait almost 40 seconds to get to the first finished piece that is an eternity in a reel.
Could you all critique my reel? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
As already mentioned, your intro is way to long. Shorten it down. I saw a screen with you name, email and site's name for 5 seconds.
Regarding your art, and this is from what I've seen in you reel (and what a HR would see). The laundrymat scene is not really shown. You just fly through it and flash the "rendered" stuff - 85% of the time you let us see the wireframe. The textures is poor in that scene to. I also think that you need to add some props in to it.
The last scene/model is shown waaaaaaaaaay to fast, especially since that's you best. I think you need to put some more effort into the textures here to.

I agree with what Leif and the others have been saying, this video overall spends too much time in the wrong places.
The first thing you show is some interesting looking concept art... that isn't yours. Either show your model first, as that's what your reel should be representing, or if you think the model needs the context: use that wasted space on the sides and show both images together.
Also, definitely speed up your logo/slate. It shouldnt take any longer than 5 seconds, tops. The logo animation and titles have so much screentime, its a shame that the turnarounds on the Gas O'leen bit feel so rushed.
Cut the fluff, show your work, and dont worry about trying to time stuff to the music, as 90% of ADs will watch it on mute.
Hey all I'm making an "interactive videogame" called Sector 3KB. I'm a one man project right now but I'm hoping to change that. I'm using blender3d and here's some of my stuff
Dan, that's looking pretty rad. feels like the center of the blade needs more upward attention given that the skull is turned up. Dem badass engravings!

Diffuse, AO - 2048 x 2048
Maps are far from done, but C&C is always welcome
Feel free to critique as always.

What happens in your scene Mental Radiation?

Might do the a proper diffuse and spec later. It's all AO and normal at the moment, whith the AO acting as spec.

Flushing out a gun I sketched a few days ago.
