Just finished a low poly game version of a mobile phone I built a few months back. Texture for this was super quick and nice thanks to Max's render to texture getting all the tasty mental ray arch and design materials and lighting from the high poly.
jejeh I know what your thinking: oww... great... another demon-devil-bust-thingy. And you know what? Your right:we have seen tohusends of them befor, but in my defense I want to say that I was forced to do it. This is the result of an exam i had to do over the past weekend. Im not sure if I can show you the concept it is based on because I dont know who drew it and i would rather stay on the safe side...
anyway, i hope you like it and I appreciate any kind of criticism.
Max - It feels like her helmet is way more heavy duty in comparison to the rest of her outfit. If that makes sense. Just doesn't feel like they're meant to go together, in my opinion at least.
wow, awesome stuff guys, love that orc, maybe the pores are a bit too pronounced in places, looks fantastic though
Suburbbum - I so wanna sculpt that haha, what does she do though?
Slebbo, terrabite, swizzle, Dan!, awesome stuff
another speedey from me 1hr 30mins in all, just zspheres this one, so no Zsketch! Ive been playing too much stacking recently on ps3 and fell in love with it so thought I would blend the styles a lil For those who havent played it, its a brilliant little adventure game about a family of Russian Dolls. timelapse video here
Looks awesome. I'd like to see some more hardsurface-ish stuff on the suit though to match with the helmet. I was expecting a mech-like suit, but I like where you're taking it so far.
sexy SeanyEG - yeah, I know. Just sit tight you, you'll get your pr0ns when I say so. In the mean time just eat some shtovetop to keep you occupied.
I was thinking this was more of an under suit to a larger piece. I'm going to do armor next. The initial feel was to design an easy fit flight suit to go along with the helmet, but I'll make some armor I guess lol
But yeah, armor is on the way.
Crazy - If you want to start sculpting be my guest
Froyok - That shader is pretty freaking cool. As far as the animation goes for your character I think you just need to put more time into it. It's not a bad start, considering you got it working lol. That's the hard part. What are you using as far as a rig?
Thanks for the crits last time Jesse Moody, I'll probably go back and optimize the death god more over the summer when I have time.
Inspired in part by Tristram Tunnel's Test. Took me a while to get the long and skinny parts not to look like poop though... haha, I think I have that figured out now though.

Thanks !
I just tested the rigging under maya for the first time (with a full custom skeleton).
Cleaned some mocap after dinner tonight :poly136: (not super perfect done yet, the end is still kinda mocappy and wobbly)
Got some free mocap from http://www.bvhsamples.animazoo.com , which is the only free mocap website I've found which has data that I can actually work with.
The character (and joints and skinning) are from a Call of Duty 4 (or 3?) sdk I've got laying around in my sdk folder.
Got about 2-3 more mocaps I wanna clean on him. And then use it to show of some of dem mad mocap skillz, in an upcoming reel (LFW!:poly142:).
Waddaya guys think, the knees clip into the ladder right now..
fuk it, its mocap
fuk it, its game
dont fuk it, fix it because I'm anal
also got bored half way through and threw that little level together and pimped it out with some shadowzzz:poly141:
anyone got a site with some free mocap data for me?
I mean, the site I used for this, has great data. but theres not lots of it, and what they have is kinda boring... I've never seen a more bored soldier climbing a ladder on the rooftops of Iraq (or whatever country they are invading this month:\)

this is nice work, but so far to me the material looks completely like metal
If you copy-paste round roofs 2 meter apart, at least rotate and mirror them.
The model looks decent (but can't really say without wires) but the textures can be improved a lot. For instance you've got seams everywhere and the materials do not look like what they should be, it all looks like plastic. Aside from that, I think you should go for a handpainted/cartoony look instead of photosourced - the tower has rather unrealistic shapes.
Here is an update. I am currently focusing my attention on the leg. The arms and tail have yet to be dealt with so don't bother critiquing those yet. I mainly want crits on the head and leg so far. I'm really aiming for top row with this thing and if anyone has some suggestions that will bring this sculpt to that level I would appreciate it. Without any further ado here is where I'm at.
Almighty Gir: That's rad :poly124:
Tea Monster: Pink Demon from DooM?
Mental Radiation: Nice stone work! I have tristram tunnels as my desktop background, love that piece.
Here's my finished plant. I have more SS's in my digital sketchbook and at my blogspot. Special thanks to Papa Austin for the foliage tips, and everyone else who critiqued along the way

I love Stacking. Heh, I was thinking of doing a stacking doll too. Very cool!
Sorry for spamming this thing, did 4 variations for class. I tink they turned out okay, will spend more time on the model next time, not too happy about some areas.
I found some time to sit down and start on my next project. I have been diving back into Uncharted 2 again and was still amazed at how awesome that game looks. I'm going to try a Nathan Drake ish character but a little more ripped. Here is the product of my first session. I'll try and knock that hands and feet out tomorrow and work on the face over the weekend.

the normal map definitely looks inverted on lot of the cloth areas and some of the pouches on her waist, may be the green channel is wrong direction.
Little help guys?
This. Is. Awesome. Are you going to move this into 3D when the concept is finished?
Few hours later, done in mental ray/photoshop:

A test with a custom mesh and animation in the udk.
I suck, maybe I must try to continue with props than with characters... :poly142:

You nailed the tristam tunnels thread tutorial spot on! in your own way of course.

This site has a small selection, worth checking out anyway

Used Cad Red, Cad Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, and Titanium White
The lemon's shadow was a paint in the ass all night... I've really got to straighten myself up... I keep falling to the left in my paintings...
Edit: Thought I'd post of a crappy photo of the setup...
Rapunzles Tower C&C Appreciated
Here is something I'm working on at the moment. Still refining shapes before retopoing.

Water hut, here I come to finish you :poly115:
Using this as my ref. No idea who the artist is. Anyone know? do tell.

The valve is kinda shitty but whatever, I'm not using a reference because I'm only playing about with high poly stuff.
