Not really sure if it fits, but here at SYBO games we made a game in a day, and thought it would be funny to make make a trailer(and some teasers) as well. I composited the thing and make a cameo apperance:
a little cross-posting. Working on Tali from mass effect. Was following the concept pretty closely then I started thinking about adding a cape or something. An extension of the fabric that she has around her body, i dunno. Any thoughts? Nr 1 is the original one following the concept, Im kinda leaning towards nr 3 or 4.
Its quick and easy to sign up. You only need an email. please voice your opinion on this. Please post a comment under my post so they can see people want this, also if you can mock-up a better design or idea feel free to do so.
maybe we can get polycounts twitter to post about this?

p.s don't hate me guys. i love you lots.
p.s looks like the idea got merged into another idea
We should break this out into a thread in General Discussion so it can be more focused
Hey dudes. Great stuff. Working on a hand painty feel, but not really sure how to work a specular map into it. Any tips?
Bro, pro shit is pro
I have no advice for you as far as a spec is concerned...maybe paint it the same way you normally would then paint daub it to get it extra painterly looking?
It's probably bad advice, but still, this work is really awesome....great stuff
Its been ages since I posted anything substantial on here so i'll share this WIP. This is actually the 4th iteration of this character. He is for an illustrated childrens book i'm writing.
my first attempt at trying to use photo textures....need to learn MOAR!!!
I'm still working on the textures tho....need to finish up the lens which is not shown atm
Here is a screenshot of very early stages of my UDK level for my dissertation experiment. Any advice on what poly limits I should be looking at for certain objects would be great such as computers, doors, chairs etc. I have been pretty "optimized" in how I have created assets and have gotten rid of any excess that isn't needed but since I am super new its pretty rough stuff .
Joxy and LRoy: You guys are doing amazing! really pulling out some hand-painting chops
awesome studys Duck, the black guy has some odd color tone variation around the face and thighs but the lady looks very voluptuous :P
Edit: I have a question for you Duck:
what are you thoughts on the nudity in your portfolio?
I love the anatomy studies but Im curious if you think NSFW images on your folio are a bad thing or not?
Dang. SO MUCH AWESOME WORK GUYS! I just finished doing the High for my dagger. And did some base colors. SUPER WIP stages. I can't wait to texture it tomorrow.
also Duck: the woman has one nit pick I just now saw.
The knees are turned out quite far. but the feet seem to turn in relative to the rotation on the knees.
Makes her look a bit bow legged when I think either turning the feet out more of the knees in more would make her pose look more natural
First post here.
Working on this muscly guy and was hoping to get some feedback on the anatomy. I think i've been staring at it so long most of the errors are going right over my head.
Finished the bake...fucking took me 10000000 years to prepare/unwrap/bake/rebake/fix. I still have a couple of normal errors that i will fix down the road.
Beefed the legs a bit, still wanted to keep him slim and fast. Once again, these concepts are done by Insomniac's Carlo Arellano.
But I feel good about it so far. I remember a conversation we had about noisy sci-fi detail that has plagued Dominance War, and it's weird. I have to keep myself from adding more detail than is necessary. Trying to keep true to Carlo's original concept.
@katzeimsack: That is some fantastic painting! Did you use any highpoly modeling for referencing the shapes, or is that just straight up hand painted texturing?
@dannedadon: Awesome. She's my favorite character from the series. Personally I like number 3 the most. Changes up the characters silhouette while still making it clear who she is, and makes her seem a little more serious. Or deadly. I could definitely see her running around with a sniper rifle now.
@Lroy: Nice! Some area's feel a little bit busy (Her breast plate, the bottoms of her skirts) disproportionate to the amount of detail you have in the overall design, but otherwise it's lovely
@CGB: His ears seem a little too narrow in profile, but otherwise that is really good. I love the proportions and stylization you've got going on. Kinda reminds me of a Middle-Ages era Conan O'brian. Sort of

This looks cool! I like the style and expression of this face, the hair though, not so much.
As for anatomy, I think the ribcage volume could be pushed a bit, as well as the Latissimus Dorsi on his back to give that inverted triangle shape bodybuilders have. Maybe even trim down the thighs a bit, looking at him now he looks kinda thin with fat legs and butt. The ear is kinda funky as well, specially the earlobes, seem a little soggy, like there's a bit too much skin. Anyway, hope you don't mind but I did a quick liquify paintover:

If your portfolio is being looked at by an employer, I don't think that would be NSFW imho. But given that in most games the characters are clothed, I would say for that reason, to have mostly clothed characters.
@Kleber1983: awesome, but the saliva looks out of place, maybe amp up the spec + gloss on the teeth/tongue/interior of the mouth to give a more consistent wet slimy look
papagersi: awesome face, man!
Razgriz: thats badass!
Oniram: those colors are super
I was working on an assignment for my sculpting class a few weeks ago but I don't think I'll have time to hollow/fire/paint it or whatever so I thought I'd slap some quick colors onto a photo and see what people thought. (candy eyes? lol)
