Looks SICK mate.. ... BTW, did u invert the shield on purpose??
Thanks man. yeah i did. but i angled it a bit after that screenshot. its so thet when he bends his arm upward to cary the shield and protect himself its rotated the right way..
I'll post another picture so that you can see what i mean..
In a relaxed pose the shield will be "upside down" and in "combat mode" its the right rotation..=)
@NeoDement- Thanks, I followed your advice and enlarged the camera a bit, but I can't go as big as I would like, due to space issues when the legs are retracted.
As for the barrel itself... I just think a robot hidden inside a wooden barrel is funnier than a generic metal one.
Little hand painted scene I'm working on at the moment. The shots are taken in 3dsmax as you might have guessed, but I do plan on porting it to Unreal as soon as I've finished blocking out some new rock wall meshes. Also planning on adding candles and flames for the torches.
I should also point out that some textures aren't even close to final. Namely, the pillars (which repeat really bad, i know!) and the arches. Any crits and comments are appreciated
AlecMoody - aren't you afraid of ruining those 2 monitors 'without' bezels? Or is that the actual design of them? It looks like you took the cases off.
This is looking really good. I think the candles or lamps will really help focus they eye. Right now it seems that everything has a similar lighting level. Some well placed light sources will help direct the eye some more. Did you have any specifications in mind for this project? Lastly, I don't suppose you could post some textures (especially the rock wall)?
This is looking good so far. A friend I go to school with actually did this concept for one of his scenes. Do you plan on doing the full concept? Id like to see how it comes out
Goddamn!! Nice. How did you go about the modelling of the detail of the grip?
The grip area still needs work ;P
but basically i made a outline of the area the bevels were going on and modeled one hexagon and followed the outline while copying the hexagon as i went then i through down a turbo smooth modifier on top of that and voila :P
holy crap Zelenkov... my eyes are not worthy of such beauty
small crit though, the scoop at the front and the bumper at the back look soft and squishy, like clay.
it could use some harder edges, but maybe it'll look different with textures
Man, I step out for a couple of days and all sorts of cool things fill this thread.
Makkon - keep rocking those rocks man (pun definitely intended)
maze - sweet bike concept, like
Stertman - awesome proportions, looks very clean
Gav - cool character, don't know if he is evil but his face blooks kinda evil. Cool none the less!
weisheng - sweet style, very cool!
Zelenkov - very well executed truck, looks very clean
Sayanora - looks it could be a very pretty game, love the style
heres what im working on, the infected parts are not done, im planning on redoing and changing some elements of it. Had some done but my computer crashed and I hadnt saved for like an hour, always fun anyway, if you have any cool ideas, let me know.
@dannedadon One cool idea that might work for you - making a swollen eye on the infected side of the face. Because right now it looks like he's slightly squinting. Either way, keep rocking!
I'm with Chai, I've made a desk that's a tad too high as well and I'm starting to feel some strain on my right wrists and shoulder.
Cheers, btw your desk should be at the same height (or slightly lower) than your elbows on your armrests, this will cause optimal bloodflow and help eliminate micro-trauma to your tissues.
One of those days I should really write a guide how I optimized my work area to pull 16+ work hours a day without even feeling my wrists ...
Find your optimal/comfortable chair sitting height and just get your desk as low as your elbows on the armrests. (I'm around 180cm height, mine is about 62-3cm)
1. chop your desk if you feel crazy.
2. get a height adjustable desk if you're rich.
3. if that's not possible get a tray at that height.
4. if that's not possible make your chair heigher, but you gotta use a footrest or you will get pelvic pressure causing all sort of problems.
It's gonna be a simple guide with pretty pictures, I'm writing it bit by bit whenever I get the chance, cheers.
started a new scene today. My fav movie is the last samurai so I wanna do something like Katsumoto's cherry blossom garden. Here's the start of my dojo kit.

SWEEEET!! I've had the original concept in my inspiration folder for quite some time now.. good to see a different version of the same..

This is really cool, but I think the camera/head part should be bigger.
It would also be nice if the folded up barrel was a bit more generic, like this:
Great work as always Nick, but I'm not totally sure about the front, it seems to lack the scale and weight that the back end of the train has.
just a quick afterwork....

I find the mood in that picture absolutely stunning. You didn't happen to make it in a wallpaper friendly resolution?
Awesome, thanks!
Mate this is awesome, however your desk is too high compared to your chair - it will increase your chances of wrist fatigue, damage and RSI.
btw is that a steelcase leap ? I'm considering to buy one, what's your take on it ?
Edit: sorry mate didn't see the keyboard tray, seems you're one step ahead of me

You've just reminded me that 'Gadzooks' is basically the best word ever. It shall now be applied to my vocabulary.
can anyone guess?
