You can't be considered a game artist if you haven't made some sort of crate right? Forgot to unwrap the top side part but I think the bake came out good. I keep getting some bad normals on the sides but it turned out I have my normals flipped.*facepalm* Took me 45 min to realize that.
@Fewes, you are absolutely right about the holes. my thought was to fix it in the texture but as you mentioned it i might actually fix it for the highpoly presentation too. cheers
finally have some time to work on something again, trying to get my feet wet with some digital painting, nowhere near the work some of you put up on here but so far pretty pleased with it for a first attempt.
Hey guys, this is my first post in WAYWO, but I check this thread daily, it's like my morning paper. I see such great stuff on here I figured I'd upload what I'm working on at uni
Interpretation of marko djurdjevic's gambit redesign. Still very rough and needs a lot of work Got 2 weeks to complete this character.
I know, but I'm alone in the whole (indie) project and don't have possibility to move around and take good building shots.
After all they are meant to be used in these kind of things...
First and only gun i made, Tokarev TT 33 started 2 years ago, just for training and fun coz that's not really the kind of thing i do at job. Bit of pinching, and innacuracy. I'm going to redo it
onelunglewis: This project is turning out so kick-ass man. Inspiring. Free_Fall: Coming along great I'd love to see the whole thing built. Gav, Nick Carver, Stertman: Awesome work everyone
maze> That bike is looking sweet. Really liking the differentiating materials. Are you using a cube map for reflection on the metal parts? There seems to be a strong reflecting light source on the metals which is hardly at all apparent on the rest of the bike. Maybe splash some ambient from the same env source?
Conte: Man, that'd be the most embarrassing thing ever. I still don't know what I'm doing, so the video would be loaded more with starting over and rearranging the picture than actual painting. Maybe one of these days, when I actually get a feel for environment art. Thanks, though!
I sculpted everything in zbrush btw, so it should look a lot better with normalmaps activated (if unity manages to support directional lightmaps some day)
RNM lightmaps
To add more flexibility to our lightmapping solution were adding the option to bake directional lightmaps (radiosity normal maps and similar schemes). That will also enable bump and specular effects on surfaces lit by indirect light only.

SO SICK !
Here is a quick sculpt to chase away the low poly blues(also no Skyrim blues).
Think i'll do a few eye studies next weekend.

My goal is to have something similar to the barbarian diablo 3 sculpture in the end.

is is weird that I feel a lot more comfortable working in sculptris than in Zbrush?
Will be baking it down to a low poly soon
Any crits on the texturing so far?
New pose and render for this guy -
@ Stertman holy crap does that look awesome ;-) I'm assuming it's for the GameArtisan's competition?
hahaha the Hulk becomes Wolverine.
some awesome work in here guys!
another small update, really just trying stuff in zbrush
not weird at all...Sculptris is the next step in intuitive digital sculpting...i trust that pixologic knows this and will move forward with it
I'm keeping a Dev Blog for it, with many screenshots of all the progress made so far.
I've playing around with Dynamesh and using it to sculpt beastly beetles:
Cheers!
Them cgtextures buildings are REALLY sticking out

Just a tiled repeating texture for some surface definition, plus its fun to use. Spent about an hour on it ;')
Should say its mostly extra credit at this point since iv'e hit all the project markers so far ;D
Here is a little context for those who haven't seen this yet.

Pretty proud that everything fits comfortably (But VERY snugly) inside the barrel.

So guys, I'm may be releasing a rock brush pack soon. I'll let you know when it starts to be useful.
Oh baby... yes please.
Any chance to see those pics in progress vids?
Meh, still edging...
they are planning it for 3.5, but god knows when that's coming out. http://blogs.unity3d.com/2011/06/16/unity-roadmap-2011/
