Ben, you are the Cookie Masta! I think even my mother can't compete with you in this field. But to be sure, I had to taste them. You could send some to your fellows Polycounters
jarrede: awesome , the only thing i dislike is that the shadows have that photoshop burn look
MGreke: haha that's great
started working on a small fanart piece since i never really done one before
Thanks man! Do you mean the dark areas appear to be saturated? There really was minimal Photoshop work done to the image, a hue/saturation tweak with a mask. May also be my crappy monitor the colors aren't coming though correctly.
I've finished my high poly shield and did a quick bake to the low poly:)
Some pieces are missing, because they don't have a high poly version, but they will appear in the final version.
I did use a portion of it for reference, the shoes especially...but the actual piece is based off a photo of a pinup model(which I used for just the legs). Kinda funny when I did come across that as well, I felt kinda shitty about it but I find it happens a lot when you use a photo reference. You'll run into 6 or 7 similar if not close to identical designs. Major props to Rayph on that one though, certainly wish I had the painting chops he does.
spiderDude: You should check the anatomic structure a bit. Brink, even with it´s stylization, keeps some consistence in the bone and muscle structure, but playing with the proportions. I see some problems with the jaw bone, it looks really thin (when in the original concept it appears to be more massive), and the nose looks a bit awkward to me.
You should also check, imo, the lips and the muscles that are under the lower lip, maybe giving them more definitions would help to make the mouth look better.
I would check the overall shape of the head and facial features, paying more attention to the sihlouette and relative positions of the elements, before diving into form definition as you did. On the bright side, he´s full of character! Lot of personality in that design. I´m sure you can make a very nice sculpt out of it
Well, here´s a sculpt that I did today in a single session. There are some things that could be better (and yes, the ear sucks, I did it as a placeholder and then got tired of the model, and I am not quite happy with the eyes), but I am relatively happy on how it did turn out.
I´m trying to get into all this character artist stuff, so comments and criticism will be more than welcome!
Medestruit: I would love to see the reference you used for those legs! :>! its super interesting to see 2 artists follow the same reference so closely!
poopinmymouth: love your new venture!
xxxcubanxxx, rooster, JasonLavoie: <3!!
some silly low contrast sketch
twas doin a little macintosh inspired robot computer thing ! : D
Thanks guys for the reply with the guns! I am slowly making a list of what people like and will take them into the next design phase! thanks again!
Cross-posting this from my sketchbook thread, because hey why not; Mesmer fan-art from Guild Wars. I was originally going to do a sculpt to go with this but then the ArenaNet art test came along and now I'm kind of Guild Wars'd out.
thanks guys
a little update on my doodles, still wip
there are some obvious pinches on the models, actually they are all 100% done with zsketches, that's why ...
jarrede : So awesome,at first i thought it was 2d painting and then i saw a wireframe, wow :poly142:,one of my favorite characters btw jocz : those are very cool busts
gav & g2000: nice work.. but both models lack a bit of variety in the texture what makes them somehow a tad flat
Spatz: you rock!
MGrecke: ha that's really great!
neox: nice one!! are the folds simulated, sculpted or subd-modeled?
Have fixed the face of this older model for fallout3. Somehow I was watching it for too long that I didn't see the faults. And then I was too lazy.
Also I'm playing here with the beautiful hardware shading in the 3ds max viewport
btw.. still working on my little unity game.. but beside of work and work I do have little time. But I'm finishing a dungeon set right now which I'll pimp when it's ready
I always feel that when it comes to critiquing the bouncing ball, it gets very nitpicky. Nonetheless, allow me to nitpick:
The first thing I notice is that this needs more drawings. As it is right now, I can make out each individual drawing except in the fast areas.
The first bounce I think is good, but the second bounce doesn't feel quite right. I believe that it doesn't bounce high enough, and therefore the timing on the hangtime feels off. You might want to try speeding up the descent as well.
The third bounce leaves the ground quicker than the one before it. After you adjust the previous bounce, it might look ok, but you might still need to slow the bounce up a bit.
The rest looks good!

jarrede: no it's the opposite, imo your dark areas could use a little more saturation
