ya, the actual bee thing doesn't really seem like it would fit too well. Beehive boxes, yes that could be interesting.
Just a thought though, sorry that its a tad late, but if you were going for a "floral defense" theme i would have gone a different approach. right now your sentries don't really read like "flowers or plants". if you're going to play up that element in your theme I believe you need to really make it obvious at first glance without having to look at the name. Plus I don't think defense when I hear flowers.
Perhaps like a venus fly trap type sentry look with a mouth that opens up to shoot or its a purely melee type sentry. Go the extra mile and have a bunch of vines/tentacles that grow with each level. they can be poisonous/thorny or just pure visual. think of the droid tencles things from the matrix movie or like doc oct from spider man. You could even then playup the idea of having vines that allow the sentry to be attached to walls/ceilings ect.
Just an idea, not saying your idea is bad, you obviously put a lot of work into it. i just think that if refined more it could be much better!

Oh thank you Oobersli! Yes, it's too late . Damn! Id like to heard your tips before the contest ends! But unfortunally i wont change the sentry by now, it was pretty hard to do and i dont have time to rebuild from zero But for the dispenser i will try a beebox and put each one side-by-side to compare
Nope. Lucy has serious bug about rotation, when client and server use diffirence models of SG.
a)Client - Lucy
__Server - SG.........Client's Lucy crazy rotation
b)Client - SG
__Server - Lucy......No rotation of client's SG.

That´s why we need to make lucy as a plugin instead a sentry. Unfortunally, the server need to be running it.
Just a prototype, the model is without most of all textures and the effects was made in the photoshop, but will help to give some ideas what how that dispenser will be. Some parts will have other colors (like the "eyes" who need to be more evident etc). I love the chimneys, the head remember me a industry who make weapons (in this case, ammo) who fall in the lower area.
It´s a shame i can put the animations here, all movable parts of this building is animated, but as soon as we finish the model, we will make a video and share the skin with the community.
Okay I'll think about some ideas for the dispenser in my free time. hm
Maybe it has a limited defensive ability, like it can shoot small darts (like the stingers on wasps/bees) to defend itself a little. (Less damage than the mini-sentry.)
Or maybe it spawns little bee bots.
The bots could defend the dispenser. Or they could attach to a teammate and follow them around. They might resupply a small amount of ammo and then disappear or do a small melee attack to enemies.
Or you could make a bee particle effect around the dispenser that damages enemies if they get close.
Of course whatever you do you MUST have the dispenser make bee buzzing noises!
I like the noises, i will compile a sound like a mechanic-bee sound. I like the bee bots..but it would be only visual..remember, the lucy pack need to be like skins.
maybe drop the exhuast tubes and play up more solar panel designs to make this thing nature friendly.
Humm... i dunno..solar panels in 60´s? I think all that machines and industries have heavy pollution standards, they are in the industrial revolution process etc.
But hey...i can use that in a future pure pack.
Interesting take on a despenser. Have a few crits. Try thickenning up the helix around the drill bit because it's too thin and not tf2 enough. The big thing that bothers me is the arms/wings...whatever they are. If you are going to keep them faceted then break up each quad with a metal bar. That will emphasize the idea of the arms folding out. If you keep them like they are then add a few more subdivisions/flow connect them. I would also scale them a bit and work on the design for the arms in general. Try doing more interations because there might be something even cooler than what you have already. hope this helps

Oh!! great ones! I like it. I will follow your ideas.
Also, that thing is supposed to be wings XD XD. I will break it in 3 or 4 parts as you suggested as a manner to increase the interations and put hinges to connect the faces (it will be usefull to unpack in the animation level2-to-level3). i will make the helix more ticker too, thanks!!
i was thinking you could make the wings the solar panels. Since "plants" and "bees" are associated with the sun it would make sense to have solar panels tied to it as well.

Hi bud, yes..they're connected, but something says to me that solar panels dont fit. But hey! We have teleporter systems and invisible french people, everything can be possible! But i dont know.i think solar panels is way futurist, it's hard to describle why.
@eggman - i laught hahahahaa. This exactly our story xD
atually, i think solar panels would be a pretty kickass idea to explore since tf2 is based around the 1950s. I'm still not convinced of the wings.
i found this-
Work on a solar cell began as early as 1839 with research undertaken by a French physicist
Antoine-Csar Becquerel. The first person to develop a solar cell was Charles Fritts in the year 1883. However, these cells developed before the year 1941 had very poor energy conversion efficiencies
often falling below one percent. In the year 1941, Russel Ohl invented the first silicon solar cell.
In the year 1954 a group of American scientists including Calvin Fuller, Gerald Pearson and Daryl Chapin developed a silicon solar cell with higher energy conversion efficiency of above six percent. They formed an array of several silicon strips placing them together to capture light energy and thus developed the first solar panel. Bell Laboratories from New York was the first company to bring out a prototype of a solar battery into the market
.
hahah i put more detail in the wings and learned more about insect wings, i duplicated the number and put more size like you suggested, i think became better now

Wow...that is gold! THank you. With that hystorical support i can put the Oobersli suggestions in the dispenser! I will make the wings covered by solar panels. Thanks Spetch and sorry for refuse your idea in the first instance, Oobersli . I will use solar panels too in the teleporter im planing for that package.
Also, hey Spetch, id be pleased if you can gimme some references of that "primitive"solar cells.
You went the wrong way with the thickening of the drill swirl, helix. Instead of extruding out, try thickening it. If I'm not making sense I will do a paintover.

Ahhh.....yes yes.., please, take a look and see if it is what you´re talking about or need to be more ticker.

Here is the Level 3 - Dispenser.
hohoho...let´s leave the fly ability to another pack if eggman can deal with the script
it looks so evil... yet i want to hug it :poly136:
IT WILL DRAIN YOUR LIFE!!
J/k.. well..it will do the same things as the ordinary dispenser, heal and provide ammo/metal.
Or...if someone have a better idea (it need to be really, REALLY better idea)
I have so much free time.

OH GOD THE BEES
wow. this is epic! any ideas what possible stats could be?

THanks bud! I will fill the wings with that kind of solar cells texture.
Also, the level 3 dispenser with all the changes.
Ahhh.....yes yes.., please, take a look and see if it is what you´re talking about or need to be more ticker.
yea, that's exactly what i was talking about, but you need to kill some of those subdivisions...way too many
THanks!
The entire level 3 dispenser have less than 10k triangles, inside the Valve limits The lower levels will have less and less.
unfortunally, we dont think in any different stats for this dispenser
Sure! The new dispenser is more taller and less wide than the original one. Excelent for corners!
Thank you! The BLU version have better look solarcells since this cells tends to be blue.
It looks good so far, and I really like the textures
keep up the good work!
