I figured out a solution anyway, hopefully it will look as good. I will rip the bandoleer in half around the middle and just let it hang from front and the back as 2 pieces, this way it shouldn't clip.
Couldn't you just shorten it? It would raise the curve up above his thigh.
Alternately, you could have the strap go across the top of the gun instead of the bottom. Maybe sling it over his shoulder? You might have to jigglebone it, though.

I agree with this post, it may be a little small for the heavy, but maybe that will help accent the heavy's gargantuan size.
Even making it short doesn't fix it because heavy holds the shotgun sligtly sideways. I'm gonna try and jiggle bone it and see maybe then the strap will keep down even if the gun is turned sideways.
You could have the strap turned sideways in the middle, resting against his leg. Basically the flat side, opposite the extra shells, is against his thigh.

BRILLIANT! And unless masterfully animated, a bandoleer around the shoulder wouldn't fit and would clip alot. Not to mention it's a perfect addition to the theme!
You could try attaching the strap to the back or the top of the stock and have it fall over one side, this might give you the horizontal difference you need. This is kind of what I mean:
Alternatively, why not just angle the whole strap over (the same amount that the heavy angles it in his hands in the opposite direction) so it hangs straight down when the heavy holds it.
Yeah, i mentioned jigglebones before didn't I? I mean it would be impossible to make it not flat without breaking laws of physics for a static model like this haha.
Thing is im getting a lot of mixed views, lots of people prefer it broken, and lots prefer it normal. Id say broken is better fitting with the theme. Il get to finishing smaller details like screws and ejection slots then texturing tomorrow. I would love some kind of artwork as well, and it makes sense for this shotgun as its based on the KS-23, which barrels were made from discarded airship guns. So its fitting having artwork typically found on planes or whatever on the gun, however details like that are very hard to execute in TF2.
Stock don't need any thang written or scribbled on it. Heavy loves his guns like a parent loves their child. He doesn't seem like the type who would intentionally deface his guns, in my little opinion.
I always thought he treated them like women too, seeing as his miniguns have female names and he doesn't express his love to other weapons other than his primary. Anyway guys i'm not gonna work on it more for today as i'm going out but I already have more than half of it unwrapped so texture should come tomorrow!
the shotgun is more like an unloved servant or maid to the heavy, that is how I have always thought it. just some neglected "tool" he uses when his primary is out of ammo (character wise...not gameplay wise, as many players "own" with the shotgun) but this symbolism is making me kind of disgusted... so can we move on?
I think you shouldn't put any form of care onto the shotgun, I think kill-marks should be replace with scuffs and a team color stripe...crudely painted on...
and I think the helmet also needs a team colored stripe...make it a more unified "theme" as the worn-down damaged look might need a "boost"...that and...stripes are great...

...alternate hat?

Just make sure, obviously, to jigglebone it.
A simple metal shape as in a coastal battery around the barrel would work if not a shield.
You can see how it would make a very unique shape seen side on or head on.
You could have the armor mainly on top and not below to not interfere with animations.
On that note, it will look fitting to rip the strap in half.
Nice one!
best idea IMO
DO IT!

Broken bandoleer. I like it. What about you guys?
I imagine it'd be jigglebone'd.

+1.
I really like the idea of some kind of artwork on the gun. Either the pinup I brought up earlier or something like WWII fighter plane nose art:
Or how about a kill tally/scoreboard?
'swhat I was thinking. Working on a mockup now.
And I'm sure there are some talented artists who could help you with the artwork.
Don't do the tallies. Not like that anyway.
And no tallies theres like 20 other people sticking hundreds of those on their stuff.
YOU ARE DEAD!
Anyway--- Buck, can you show the Heavy holding the gun with the broken strap?
Accually he treats his guns like children.
I stand by what I said.

I thought that was Natascha...
I think his shotgun is his co-worker whom he respects but holds no particular attraction to.
...Then again maybe this conversation HAS gone too far...
and makes the heavy seem like a pig...
DON'T GET ANY IDEAS!
No, Natascha is his ex-wife that he occasionally hooks up with.
Mr Heavy is into vore?
fool! the sandvich is his partner and A DAMN GOOD COP! :poly118:
