Its okay Khthon, even stats ideas sometimes bring up interesting design ideas. Ofcourse over the top ideas that obviously wont make it in arent needed Anyway, im having huge troubles unwrapping this thing so there arent too many seams
Its not working for me, I feel this pale faded red doesn't fit the helmet at all. I don't know if a weathered/rusted/oxidised paint job would suit it more maybe. Also, not loving the mouth thing, don't think its in-keeping with any of the other tf2 styles. Like the model overall though, really like the cuts, they give it some real charm I dunno, its a tricky one to texture, just one overall block colour would be kinda boring. Maybe add some Saxton Hale?
He looks like a big shaved bear! That hates people.
The only problem I had was the bent part didn't fit, but it looks good now, I'll just keep my eye on this thread.
I know what you mean psycho, i tried doing this red color so i can team color it with blue/grey for BLU. And the smile definitely looked better in concepts Luckily i can easily get rid of it.
Yeah, it seems much too faded IMO. You could probably get away with making it nice and saturated team color (just not too bright), and adding some wear on the edges to show the age instead.
I don't think hats cast shadows on the player models, you might not want to be rendering your preview pics with shadows on the heavy's head/face if that's true or else it won't look how you thought it would when you get it in-game.
I like #3 as well. For the animations, you can have him reload normally. Just have the big magazine of shotgun shells in the silhouette be a hanging bandoleer of shells instead. Could jiggle bone it.
Or have the bandoleer be a rigid bit of plastic/metal with the shells showing if you don't care for the jiggle.
The hanging bandoleer of shells could be bear leather with some fur still on it possibly.
Idea: Keeping with the whole "protection" theme, I have a thought for a melee unlock. Picture this, two large shields. One strapped to either of the heavy’s fist. Punching out targ n' charge demomen like the amazing man beast he is.
I second the shotgun idea. Number 3 obviously matches the theme best. Keep up the work, it looks awesome. I don't want that awesome minigun to go to waste!
I'd like to see #1 without the stock myself, the damage in 3 and 4 makes for a good silouette sure, but considering the amount of money the Heavy spends on bullets alone I don't see him running around with a gun that would probably impale him every time he reached for it.
the helmet works because it looks like something he's had for a long time and is personally attached to because it took a few hundred bullets for him; remember that while many of the Valve-made weapons are somewhat makesift, none of them are actually damaged/falling apart.
Well i don't think heavy himself spends the money on his ammo. I'm sure its BLU and RED that provide him with it seeing as TF2 classes are mercenaries. Heavy also seems to have a lot of sentimental feelings towards his weapons, this weapon might of been his first shotgun or something.
However that same sense of attachment he shows toward Sasha would probably make him hold onto old and favoured weapons, no?
Even better how about a busted up one of these:
Silhouette is fairly similar to number 1. That's a Baikal MP-133K shotgun with polymer stock and detachable box magazine. More on those here: http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh48-e.htm
I don't think the painted-on mouth fits with the design aesthetic of tf2. There's so little hand-painted anything in the official textures. I would lose the mouth. The mask looks great without it.
I think seeing a multiple barreled shotgun for the heavy would be pretty cool, and fit in with his heavy weapon theme, but I'm not sure how it would tie into the defensive theme you have going.
Also, the weapon in the last screen you posted looks amazing. The helmet looks a bit too big, but otherwise just as good. Keep up the good work!
I quite like silhouettes 3 and 4 myself however I feel the stock in the back of both is a bit too destroyed for my tastes. I'd suggest, personally, making the stock a bit more complete however still somewhat damaged and splintered. Like so:

Here's a quick suggestion, to replace the sandvich, give the heavy "war rations". They would heal a very small amount but make him more defensive.
War rations:
-80% heal
+20% damage reduction for next 15 seconds
just a random idea.
And even then, it'd just be a suggestion anyway, valve can do what they want with it and will.
nah make it a bear claw, and im pretty sure you just discribed the chocolate bar there
Or turn the sandvich upside down. Let it give you ammo insted of health, could be given out to others. engies will love you :P
BREAKING NEWS: Extensive game mechanic ideas don't belong in these threads.

But the mouth should much redder in comparison.

A rather large, heavy duty shotgun with a rifled barrel (which technically makes it a carbine).
More on the that badboy here: http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh30-e.htm
Also, I would try Khthon's suggestion, with the bear leather and all. Sounds swell.

but Look how upset he gets over a fingerprinton Sasha.
I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying I don't think it works.

Ever heard of a Nock gun?
Yes, that's a SEVEN-BARRELED shotgun. All 7 fire AT ONCE, then you have to manually reload all 7.
I've felt for a while now that the heavy weaponS guy should have more than one heavy weapon...
Also, the weapon in the last screen you posted looks amazing. The helmet looks a bit too big, but otherwise just as good. Keep up the good work!
Ooh! That would be an idea too... I could imagine it looking like Early Cuyler's shotty gun like I mentioned earlier.
