looking cool, just think the barrel connectors and front plate could use more edge highlights to help them pop a tad more. Also, do you have a spec map on?
Thanks for nice comments. Gonna try to do more work on the texture when i have more time. And yougoli, yes i'm feeling better, hangovers don't last too long haha.
I like the look of this, but have you tried making the ammunition box team coloured? The green stands out a lot when you stare at the centre of the image.
Try the brown at the lower right of here:
Green seems to be a rather taboo colour in TF2. I agree it does look kind of out of place. But done right it can blend nicely. Im still undecided on the ammo box as of now but Buck is awesome for coming up with this so I'll go with whatever he thinks is best :P
A lot of folks forget that Valve has put a fair amount of green in the game lately. TF2 had rather an excessive amount of brown and orange tones at the beginning, the notion of stepping outside that box is still uncomfortable to some, but put that green in the light of the recent alpine style maps, the direct hit, and tribionophorous(sp?) tyranus and it's not so bad.
Now purple? No. The world is not ready for purple.

But don't you see that when you look at the dead centre of the image your eye is unusually drawn to that green ammo box?
I think the attention should be drawn to the shield or the barrels at the front.

Mine isn't, except in that one picture where the light is dead on it and the rest of it is in shadow.
Frankly, I'm happy to see the minigun having a different ammo storage thing, because I was really disappointed with how uninspired Natashca's design was. And the inclusion of green to me is good, because one of the things that's most tedious for the eyes about TF2 is being in a constant sea of orangeish brown and having characters that look like they're only geared for an orangeish brown setting.
Valve was smart to add green, and I think it's good that he's taking advantage of that.

It was very refreshing when they added the green grass, but with the teams themselves I still think it's important to keep their colours.
I did a quick edit here:
I also increased the overall brightness and lowered the contrast a tad.
i notice how everything u made got RIPPED some where
minigun's shield
the helmet's err... helmet part...
and the broken shotgun u mentioned b4, the ripped barrel, maybe make the theme ripped weapon? (thats not the word of course, cuzi sux at wording, but u get my idea right?)
and ever considered a fourth submition? misc and melee is left =D, because we all LOVES ur work
and just a question: can you submit two of the same slot weapon?
I don't think the gun would fit in well in the bright stages of TF2, it's too... pale? It looks dirty or something, I cant put my finger on it.
Still- I'm rooting for you and Fragus

TBH I don't think this would be so bad, just brighten up the colors a tad bit. The darker colors really don't fit in TF2, and this really does look like something from Gears of War. Lightening it up a bit would fix that.
I personally think the green was just fine and acted as a neutral color like the yellow for the pyro. It also added variation in the color and prevented it to look bicolored.

Green=good. Mann Co. I could do without being on every single entry, but that's just me.
Me too.
Then again, Mann Co does fit somewhat okay on this weapon.
It's when people use Mann Co on weapons that aren't factory made to be weapons that annoy me the most :S
I have to agree with micro on this one, the green was a really nice neutral color addition and gave the gun a little more character. You should also think about brightening up the colors a little more, since it really does look gears of war-ish.
im not sure why but i feel the bear helmet sould have some bear features on it (piece of metal in the shape of a cartoonish nose riveted/welded on, stuff like that) but thats just me :poly121:
Sorry for lack of updates, started working and been really tired. Im also the type of person who never gets anything done, i like to start stuff but never finish it. When i started this thread i was modelling 10 hours a day, now i cant bother doing a single poly. I cant let you guys down though i will force myself to work on this atleist an hour or 2 a day even if it means cutting down on my sleep hours! Here is my crappy first shot of the Bear Helm
Need to smooth the eyeslot a bit, maybe make it wider. The helmet itself seems VERY small on heavys head too. Then i will add the smaller details like the straps and hinges.
Well I don't think a hat that just weighs in at 22lb would really hurt HWG's brain further then his current weak brain state. Keep the hat's size, slimming it down would be nice but not noticeable in game.
I would make the cracks in the helmet a little smaller on the bottom, and add a little more of the warpage you have going on on the left side. It looks good, but the cracks dominate the mask just a little too much. I would reduce them and add a couple of bullet scratches.

PS: Hope you're feeling better, Buck.

RE5 had the worst for brown overlays.

Going to add any other scratches? Maybe just paint scratches in the texture.
I would thin the mask a bit. Looks like it'd be pretty damn heavy :P
have it work like the hotrod hat for the engineer! when walking around its up but when spinning the minigun its down!:poly121:
Bit more stuff done.
