My question is, do you take in applicants with a level 3 access course. I am doing an access course in illustration and I willing to to apply for this course in the 2015 catchment.
Hey little claude, does Hertfordshire University offer any courses that have 3D games environments included in with any of the content of those courses? i'm currently researching universities that have content related to this as its generally what I am interested in.
We cluster students into what they enjoy doing by level 2 so they can specialize in their chosen field.
First year is like a foundation course so you get to try techniques from VFX, 3D Animation, 2D Animation and Games Art. While its a hard slog there are so many cross transferable skills that you will learn so its well worth the battle.
An example is Zygimantas Neviera above, he is a good concept artist, 3D modeller but towards the end of level 2 he found he was enjoying animation and rigging the most.
So in answer to your question Yes you will be able to do environment creation.
These look amazing I'd apply for the MA in Games Art, but sadly, i don't have much of a Portfolio (or anything worth putting in one), and i live about 2 and a half hours drive away, so, not really feasible for me, sadly.
Hi Anthony, why not make a Polycount thread and get cracking
We have a range of students, some are total experts in their field and have a few years industry experience and just want to have a chance at making there own portfolio and projects. Others come from totally different back ground and need to learn lots of new software.
Mohit Kallianpur from Walt Disney Animation Studios (Director of Cinematography & Lighting) popped in to say hello and give a little talk to the UHAnimation students this week, what a cool man.
If any of you Games Art pros ever want to pop in to talk to the students then PM me and I will book you in
You best talking to administration before applying as the University and Government change things every year.
At the moment (01/07/2014) to get on the Animation courses in a nutshell you need the following.
1- Youre in love with your computer!!
2- Good drawing skills (sculpture, painting, photography)
3- Art Foundation, A-levels or BTEC, 280 UCAS points or higher
4- Maths & English GCSE grade C or higher*
5- Bags of Enthusiasm!
6- Extras: tell us about yourself, for example acting, music, 3D experience, film studies, animation and anything else you might like to tell us, in the past we have had Olympic ice skaters, band members, Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) and anything else you can tell us about yourself that can give you the edge or stand out from the crowd.
I hear that the points tariff might soon go up as we went over 1000 applications for 90 places on the BA 3D,2D,VFX and Games Art courses for the second year and we interview everyone so we need to make some changes.
The reason I say talk to administration is because there are qualifications like English Keyskills Level 2 Communication, Level 2 Functional Skills English, IGCSE First and Second Language English C+, Double Award English Studies C+, IBMid Grade 4+, Maths Keyskills Level 2 Application of Number, Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics, Open University pass in M or T prefixed courses, AQA Level 2 Cert (GCSE) Use of Mathematics Grade C, IGCSE Maths C+, IBMid Grade 4+, and the government and University guidelines change their mind on these all the time.
You could come and do an MA for free through our research lab if you have an idea you would like to research or company you would like to create, might even get paid if the idea is solid enough.
I need to unsubscribe from this thread.. the work from students is too good
Thank you
